Following Austin Smotherman’s victory at the Bank of Utah Championship, the PGA Tour heads overseas for the Baycurrent Classic, formerly the Zozo Championship. Last year, Xander Schauffele won by a single shot, the third time in the last four years the champion won by a single stroke.

It’s being contested at Yokohama Country Club, and it features the best Fall Series field by far, with 13 players who recently competed at the Presidents Cup teeing it up. That includes the X-Man, Hideki Matsuyama, this year’s U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark and 2023 Baycurrent Classic winner Collin Morikawa.

I’m starting my card this week with Michael Thorbjornsen, who has a +2400 price tag when converting Kalshi 4 cents to American odds. He got into the winner’s circle for the first time at the Rocket Classic in August, which was his fourth top-10 of the season.

He’s up against a pretty solid field, particularly for Fall Series events. However, what I like about Thorbjornsen is that he has odds longer than the top-eight players on the betting board, so there’s still some value on him. He’s a stud in waiting, and now that he’s broken through, expect more titles to follow in his career. In his tournament debut at the Baycurrent Classic in 2025, Thorbjornsen was fantastic, finishing third.

Baycurrent Classic 2026 Picks & Value Bets

  • Michael Kim +5200 at Kalshi: Michael Kim knocked on the door in his attempt to take down his second PGA Tour title in 2025, but just fell short. The popular player had three top-10’s, including a runner-up at the Valero Texas Open. He posted top-10’s at the 3M Open and Rocket Classic late July/early August, giving me solid hope that he could contend again this week. His last tournament was a T-7th at the DP World Tour’s FedEx Open de France.
  • Max Greyserman +5700 at DraftKings: Max Greyserman has been oh-so-close to tasting ultimate success at this venue, finishing as the runner-up in each of the last two iterations. He’s also coming in having put up a top-10 finish at the Biltmore Championship, so getting him at these odds is intriguing for a player who is very comfortable on this course.
  • Jackson Suber +5900 at Kalshi: Jackson Suber is searching for his maiden victory on the main circuit, but he’s finding himself popping up on leaderboards more and more. In half of his last twelve events, Suber has posted top-25s, including two fourth place results and a tie for sixth.
  • Nico Echavarria +9400 at DraftKings: Nico Echavarria loves this track, having won here in 2024, then followed that up a year ago with another top-10. He won earlier in the campaign at the Cognizant Classic, and posted a pair of top-12s in his last four starts. He’ll be fascinating to monitor in the top 5/10/20 markets.
