Aaron Boone Firing Odds: What Kalshi Says About Yankees Manager’s Future

Pressure is mounting on Aaron Boone after the New York Yankees dropped the first two games of the American League Division Series to the Tampa Bay Rays.
With the Yankees now facing elimination, questions about Boone’s future have naturally returned to the forefront. However, the latest Kalshi prediction market still suggests that the Yankees are more likely to keep their manager than move on from him.
Kalshi currently prices Boone’s chance of being fired at 27%, while the market prices his chance of remaining the Yankees’ manager at roughly 73%. The market has moved toward Boone’s firing following the Yankees’ rough start to the ALDS. New York suffered a 5-2 loss in Game 2 on Monday, committing four errors, including three during a disastrous first inning.
Aaron Boone Firing Odds on Kalshi
The Kalshi market reflects whether Boone will still be the Yankees’ manager by the specified resolution date.
Although a 27% firing probability is significant, the market still clearly favors Boone’s return. That could change quickly if the Rays eliminate the Yankees. New York enters Game 3 needing to win three consecutive games to advance.

Why Aaron Boone Could Keep His Job
Despite recent frustration, Boone has built a strong track record in the Bronx. The Yankees reached the postseason in all but one of Boone’s first nine seasons as manager and made the World Series in 2024. New York also won 93 games in the 2026 regular season despite significant injuries throughout the year.
That injury factor could work in Boone’s favor when the Yankees evaluate the season as a whole. Aaron Judge missed significant time, while players including Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, Anthony Volpe, Giancarlo Stanton, Max Fried, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Cody Bellinger also dealt with injuries during the season.
Why the Yankees Could Move On From Boone
The biggest issue is simple: the Yankees haven’t won a World Series under Boone. New York hasn’t won a championship since 2009, and expectations around the franchise remain extremely high. The Yankees have reached October several times during Boone’s tenure, but postseason success has ultimately fallen short of the standard set in the Bronx.
Yankees fans remember in 2017 when they fired their manager at the time, Joe Girardi, after he led the Yankees to Game 7 of the ALCS. Now, another early playoff exit could put even more attention on the manager.
Monday’s Game 2 loss only fueled that conversation. The Yankees committed four errors and struggled offensively against Tampa Bay, putting themselves on the verge of elimination. Boone’s decision to stick with Ryan McMahon at third base also came under scrutiny after McMahon was involved in one of New York’s early defensive mistakes.
Will Aaron Boone Be Fired?
For now, Kalshi expects Boone to remain the Yankees manager. The 27% probability of his being fired is high enough to show legitimate uncertainty about his future. However, the market still firmly favors Boone returning. That could change depending on how the Yankees finish the ALDS.
If New York can somehow overcome the 0-2 deficit and advance, Boone’s case to return would likely become much stronger. If Tampa Bay eliminates the Yankees, however, the conversation around the manager could become one of the biggest offseason storylines.
For now, the prediction market says Boone is more likely to stay than go.
