The final episode of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 broadcasts live from the Meta APEX in Las Vegas tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET on Paramount+. The action is headlined by a pivotal featherweight bout between Ilias Bulaid and Erick Visconde, with Alex Pereira’s sister, Aline, competing in the co-main event.
I have analyzed the numbers to find the most profitable angles before the cage doors lock. Read on for my official Dana White’s Contender Series Week 10 odds, main event prediction and betting pick.
Dana White’s Contender Series Week 10 Odds
Former ONE Championship titlehodler Smilla Sundell enters the cage as the biggest favorite on the entire DWCS card, commanding an enormous -1100 price tag in the bantamweight division. Conversely, Aline Pereira enters as the biggest underdog at +550, meaning a minor miracle is expected if she wants to secure a UFC contract.
Odds as of Oct 13 at Bet365. A few of tonight’s prices swing hard between books, so it is worth running them through the top UFC betting apps first.
Ilias Bulaid vs Erick Visconde Prediction
Ilias Bulaid and Erick Visconde were supposed to fight a few weeks ago before an illness to the former pushed the matchup back to this main event. Despite the recent hiccup, I am still backing Bulaid at -150. The former kickboxer brings a 25-6 record and the sharper striking background, although some of his attacks can be singular and telegraphed.
Erick Visconde will want to wrestle from the opening bell, making him a fine stylistic test for the Dutchman. Visconde times his shots well and has some explosive entries but sometimes struggles to finish his shots, while Bulaid has the takedown defense and vision to make those entries difficult. Given his background, it is clear in his developing technique that Bulaid has spent countless hours in the gym working on his takedown defense since making the move to MMA.
Both fighters present a big step up in competition for the other, but Bulaid’s striking is a much bigger problem for Visconde, who does not seem to absorb clean shots comfortably. I am siding with Bulaid to keep the fight in his domain more often than not and capitalize on his windows to bulldoze his way into the UFC.
- DWCS Week 10 Pick #1: Ilias Bulaid Moneyline (-150 at Bet365)
Smilla Sundell vs Aline Pereira Best Bet
Smilla Sundell and Aline Pereira are two former kickboxers whose grappling is each their biggest concern, suggesting a glorified striking fight will unfold in the Octagon. Both women boast respectable striking credentials on their resume, which makes Over 2.5 rounds at +100 my preferred angle.
Pereira might be the bigger name at the moment, but it is entirely due to her family name. She has been gifted favorable competition her entire career and has largely failed to do much with it, while Sundell has clawed her way to the top of the mountain against elite Muay Thai competition.
Sundell is the cleaner fighter in almost every regard. Her movement and accuracy is what sticks out most, especially against Pereira, who wants to sit down on her shots. The mobility will be frustrating for Pereira, but it can also keep Sundell from standing in the pocket and forcing an early finish.
Sundell has won both of her fights by knockout, yet Pereira has a solid chin and never been stopped. I expect Pereira’s durability to help this fight get beyond the total, but it should be a total Sundell showcase.
- DWCS Week 10 Pick #2: Sundell vs Pereira Over 2.5 (+100 at Bet365)
Luis Francischinelli vs William Rentz Pick
I am taking Luis Francischinelli by KO/TKO at -185. Size is everything for Francischinelli, who, at 6-foot-6, would be the tallest non-heavyweight on the UFC roster if he earns a contract. That will be a difficult factor for the six-foot-tall Will Rentz to navigate, having never faced that wide of a physical disadvantage before.
Regardless, Rentz will not be intimidated by the size difference. He always brings the pressure with aggressive striking to set up takedowns, which is how he’ll need to beat Francischinelli. The Brazilian was dominated on the ground in his lone loss. While not a chain wrestler like Jonathan Piersma, the fighter who handed Francischinelli his first loss, Rentz is strong from top position and is always aggressive with his ground-and-pound.
However, Rentz’s pressure might be a double-edged sword in this matchup, as his recklessness provides openings for a sniper like Francischinelli to capitalize on. Francischinelli has a pristine jab that sets up the rest of his accurate striking, and he is lethal with long knees and elbows whenever his opponents get past his gaudy reach.
Rentz is a live underdog, especially if he can extend the fight, but I expect Francischinelli to pick him off as he enters range and find the stoppage before the pressure can take over.
- DWCS Week 10 Pick #3: Luis Francischinelli by KO/TKO (-185 at Bet365)
Douglas da Lapa vs Davi Cabral Prediction
Neither Douglas da Lapa nor Davi Cabral are UFC-ready in my opinion, and this fight could get messy in a blink. As such, my pick is Over 1.5 rounds at +115. Da Lapa is significantly bigger, but I do not see a major technical gap separating the two fighters.
Da Lapa typically likes to wrestle, but he is far from a UFC-caliber grappler and fails to take advantage of his physicality. Whenever he isn’t shooting sloppy takedowns, he’s throwing telegraphed, naked kicks from the outside.
Cabral should bring more pressure, though he also tends to launch attacks without consistent setups. Cabral starts every fight with a bevy of naked leg kicks while trying to push his opponents against the fence.
This is a fairly low-level matchup that could feature plenty of tepid striking and clinching. Perhaps one man catches the other, as defense is also not in either’s arsenal, but without any semblance of educated offense, I expect the fight to last beyond the first round and a half, especially at this value.
- DWCS Week 10 Pick #4: Cabral vs da Lapa Over 1.5 (+115 at Bet365)
Jason Asher vs Greg Foster Best Bet
I am backing Jason Asher by KO/TKO at +135. Asher is faster and far more diverse on the feet, with a deep range of attacks that can punish Foster during exchanges. He isn’t one for defending himself, but his aggression and constant offense has already created a respectable pre-UFC highlight reel.
The MMA Lab product Greg Foster will try to wrestle, and he could get Asher to the mat. Asher’s takedown defense has yet to be tested at a high level. However, I like Asher’s quick reactions when opponents latch onto his hips. It is not a long-term solution, but Foster does not adequately set up his shots in a way that can consistently catch him off-guard.
Foster has also had a habit of forcing entries, which opens him up to where Asher is the most dangerous. At plus money, I will take Asher to defend the early wrestling and find the finish with his striking.
- DWCS Week 10 Pick #5: Jason Asher by KO/TKO (+135 at Bet365)
