NFL Week 7 starts in just 48 hours, which means it’s time to get SBD’s prediction model to spit out its three best underdogs to target. The 14-game Week 7 slate features a wide spectrum of underdogs. At the extreme end, the New York Giants face a daunting task as massive +9.5-point, +360 moneyline longshots on the road against the Houston Texans. Other heavy road underdogs catching big numbers include the Indianapolis Colts (+220 vs MIN) and the Miami Dolphins (+195 vs NYJ).
None of those three made the cut, though. This week’s top-three upset picks are all priced between +120 and +190.
Applying a strict nine-signal, weighted statistical model uncovers the week’s most vulnerable favorites. Here are the three underdogs with the best chance to win outright this Sunday.
NFL Week 7 Upset Predictions
The Green Bay Packers take the top spot over the Philadelphia Eagles via a strict tiebreaker. While both underdogs scored seven weighted points, Green Bay triggered the model’s most powerful signal as a short underdog in a critical divisional tilt. The undefeated Kansas City Chiefs round out the board as a dangerous medium-confidence play.
For the fourth straight week, the model went 2-1 last Sunday, hitting on the Texans (+133 vs JAX) and Panthers (+104 @ PHI), but missing on the Giants (+108 vs NOLA). The Panthers pick demonstrates the importance of targeting underdogs early in the week: Carolina was favored by kickoff.
For the season, the model is now 9-9 SU and +2.52 units. That comes after a brutal 1-5 start, which is par for the course for the model; it always struggles in early weeks when it has fewer numbers to crunch. It’s up nearly 7 units since Week 3.
Upset Pick #1: Packers (+156 at Novig) @ DET
Triggering the model’s most powerful predictor, Green Bay hits Signal 1 as a short divisional underdog (+3) on the road. The Packers also cash two critical contextual signals rooted in winning pedigree: a superior current-season win percentage (.667 to .600) and Matt LaFleur’s career coaching advantage. Across 132 career games, LaFleur boasts a .633 win percentage compared to Dan Campbell’s .552 mark in 106 games.
This is far from a flawless profile. Green Bay misses out on the ground game signals, with Detroit averaging nearly double the rushing production (114.2 rushing yards per game to 59.8), and Campbell holds a 6-4 all-time head-to-head advantage over LaFleur. For the upset to land, Green Bay must jump out to an early lead, neutralize Detroit’s rushing attack, and lean on a +0.67 turnover margin to steal critical extra possessions.
Upset Pick #2: Eagles (+186 at Novig) vs DAL
The Eagles check five distinct statistical signals to solidify a high-confidence rating, anchored by a massive coaching mismatch. Nick Sirianni’s .663 career win rate across 101 games dwarfs Brian Schottenheimer’s .413 mark in 23 games. Philadelphia also sweeps the ground-game and possession metrics. The Eagles hold edges in rushing offense (82.2 to 76.0 yards per game), rushing defense (119.3 allowed per game versus Dallas’s generous 149.8), and a slightly less damaging turnover margin (-0.33 to -0.67). Finally, Philadelphia triggers the home-stadium signal.
On the flip side, the Eagles miss the primary divisional signal at +4.5 points, and they are severely outgunned through the air. Dallas averages 273.2 passing yards per game compared to Philadelphia’s 191.3. To win outright, the Eagles must control the clock via a rushing advantage and force Schottenheimer’s high-volume passing offense into costly turnovers.
Upset Pick #3: Chiefs (+122 at Kalshi) @ SEA
Finding an undefeated team catching points is rare, but the 5-0 Chiefs trigger four robust statistical signals against the 3-3 Seahawks. Kansas City hits the team win percentage signal (1.000 to .500) and dominates the ground-game variables. The Chiefs average 159.8 rushing yards per game to Seattle’s 107.2, while also boasting a stouter rushing defense (88.8 yards allowed per game versus 96.0). Furthermore, Kansas City owns a massive turnover margin advantage (+1.00 to -0.17).
Despite these edges, Kansas City misses out on the coaching signals. Andy Reid and Mike Macdonald have no prior head-to-head history, and Macdonald holds a higher career win percentage (.698 to Reid’s .642). Seattle also boasts an elite pass defense, allowing just 156.8 passing yards per game. For the Chiefs to win on the road, they must relentlessly exploit Seattle on the ground and win the turnover battle.
NFL Week 7 Best Bet: The Underdog Moneyline With the Biggest Edge
While the Kansas City Chiefs (+122) and Philadelphia Eagles (+186) carry implied win probabilities of 45% and 35%, the slate’s standout value is the Green Bay Packers moneyline at +156. That price implies just a 39% chance of victory, creating a massive edge against model expectations.
Though Green Bay and Philadelphia both scored seven points for a High confidence rating, the Packers win the strict tiebreaker by triggering the premium priority of Signal 1 as a short divisional underdog. Backing Matt LaFleur’s coaching advantage and Green Bay’s superior form presents the week’s best outright opportunity.
