  • Four NHL games are on the Monday board, with the first two dropping the puck at 7 pm ET
  • Three best bets with current prices and the numbers behind each one
  • Keep reading for the risks on each pick, not just the positives

Monday brings a four-game NHL slate, starting with Vegas at Boston and Detroit at Florida at 7 pm ET. Colorado visits Chicago at 8 pm ET, and Calgary at San Jose closes the night at 9 pm ET.

I’ve got three best bets for tonight, all priced on Kalshi as of Nov. 1. Here are my NHL picks today, with the case for each one and the reasons they could miss.

NHL Picks Today

MatchupStart (ET)PickPrice
Avalanche @ Blackhawks8 pmAvalanche -1.5YES 47¢
Golden Knights @ Bruins7 pmOver 6.5 goalsYES 46¢
Red Wings @ Panthers7 pmRed Wings MLYES 39¢

Each Kalshi contract pays $1 if correct, before fees, so the price works like an implied probability. A 47¢ price means roughly a 47% implied chance, and none of these picks is close to a sure thing. You can compare prices across other NHL betting apps before you bet.

NHL Best Bets Today

1. Avalanche vs Blackhawks Pick: Colorado Puck Line

  • Avalanche -1.5 (YES 47¢ / (+113) at Kalshi)

My Avalanche vs Blackhawks pick asks Colorado to win by two or more goals. The Avs lead the NHL at 4.21 goals per game. Chicago allows 3.79 goals per game, ranking 30th.

The Blackhawks also struggle to score themselves. They rank 31st at 2.21 goals per game and 31st on the power play at 11.6%, so Colorado’s 76.9% penalty kill shouldn’t face much pressure. Chicago is 3-6-1 over its last 10.

The risk is Colorado’s own form. The Avs are 5-4-1 over their last 10 and allow 3.07 goals per game, so a 4-3 type win is very possible. Any one-goal Colorado win loses this ticket, which is why the price sits under 50¢.

2. Golden Knights vs Bruins Pick: Over 6.5 Goals

  • Over 6.5 goals (YES 46¢ / (+117) at Kalshi)

I’m going over in Golden Knights vs Bruins at about a 46% implied chance. Boston scores 3.67 goals per game and Vegas scores 3.47. Their combined scoring average is 7.14 goals per game, though that alone does not guarantee a high-scoring matchup.

Special teams give the over another path. Vegas runs a 27.3% power play, seventh in the league, while Boston’s penalty kill sits at 76.9%. The Golden Knights’ 69.4% penalty kill ranks 26th, which gives Boston’s 19.6% power play room to cash in.

Boston’s defense is the main concern. The Bruins allow just 2.40 goals per game and are 7-2-1 over their last 10. If they control this game the way they have lately, a 4-2 or 3-2 finale is easy to picture.

3. Red Wings vs Panthers Pick: Detroit Moneyline

  • Red Wings ML (YES 39¢ / (+156) at Kalshi)

Wrapping up my NHL best bets, I’m taking Detroit as the underdog at a 39% implied chance. The Red Wings are 5-2-3 over their last 10, picking up points in eight of those games.

The gap between these teams is smaller than the price implies. Florida scores 3.14 goals per game to Detroit’s 2.79, and the Panthers allow 2.79 to Detroit’s 2.93. Florida is 6-4-0 over its last 10, so neither side enters on a heater.

Special teams are where this pick could go wrong. Florida’s penalty kill sits at 84.7%, which makes life hard on Detroit’s 22.9% power play. Detroit’s 68.9% penalty kill also has to handle a Panthers power play at 24.2%, so the Wings need to stay out of the box.
