Alberta will seek out a familiar face to help monitor its soon-to-be regulated sports betting and iGaming markets.
The Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission approved the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) as a licensed integrity monitor for sports betting. The IBIA will monitor Alberta sports betting apps and iGaming among licensed operators when Alberta launches its regulated markets on Monday, July 13.
The IBIA is currently live in the Ontario regulated markets.
IBIA Lauds Decision
In a post on LinkedIn, the IBIA thanked the AGLC for its license. The association noted it will work alongside AGLC to monitor markets and notify operators of any suspicious activity it may identify.
“Ahead of Alberta’s regulated iGaming and sports betting market opening in July, IBIA has been approved as a licensed integrity monitor in the province. This means integrity monitoring will be part of the framework from day one. This is a very good practice for how regulated betting markets should develop: with clear obligations for operators, trusted information sharing and practical systems in place to identify and escalate suspicious betting activity,” the company wrote.
The IBIA will use its Global Monitoring & Alert Platform (MAP) to draw on “operator intelligence and account-level data” to assess, detect, and report suspicious betting activity in the Alberta regulated market.
The AGLC notified the IBIA of its license earlier this month, along with nearly 40 other licenses for operators, service suppliers, and service providers.

Major sports betting companies, such as DraftKings Alberta, FanDuel Alberta, theScore Bet Alberta, and BetMGM Alberta, have successfully registered to operate in Alberta’s upcoming regulated sports betting market.
According to Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis, 28 companies have registered to operate in the province as of May 1, 2026.
The following notable operators have registered for Alberta sports betting:
- Bet99
- Caesars Sportsbook Alberta
- Bally Bet
- BetMGM Alberta
- DraftKings Alberta
- FanDuel Alberta
- Golden Nugget Onlne Gaming

- PointsBet
- theScore Bet Alberta
- BetRivers Alberta
In late March, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission unveiled several key dates for regulated, provincial sports betting, setting July 13, 2026, as a cutoff date for gray operators to cease unregulated sports betting activity.
The cutoff date later became the official start date of the province’s regulated sports betting market.
The AGLC revealed that any interested sports betting operator will have to submit a completed application and pay all application registration fees to the commission no later than July 13, 2026, to be considered for a license.
If an operator cannot meet the July 13 submission date, the AGLC may consider a maximum of three months extension date to Oct. 13, 2026, on a case-by-case basis, only when an operator can demonstration a path to compliance was unattainable prior to July 13, 2026.
