Michael Rubin’s Fanatics Sportsbook is likely to make its Massachusetts online sports betting debut by mid-June.
According to a Fanatics Sportsbook representative, the beta-testing period for its online sports betting app is coming to an end and will be available for Fanatics customers in Ohio and Tennessee by Monday, May 1.
The representative told Sports Betting Dime that the operator is hoping to offer the same access deal to Fanatics customers in Massachusetts by mid-June.
Fanatics Sportsbook Is on Its Way
The Ohio and Tennessee news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal late Thursday.
The sportsbook has been beta-tested in both Tennessee and Ohio leading up to the state debuts. Fanatics is currently live in one state, Maryland, through a brick-and-mortar sportsbook at FedExField, home of the NFL’s Washington Commanders.
No details were provided on what constitutes a “Fanatics customer” and who will be eligible to receive a sportsbook code.
The sports betting operator is currently gearing up for a Commonwealth launch by acquiring final approvals from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Earlier this week, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission unanimously approved the Fanatics Sportsbook house rules and operations by a vote of 5-0.
The final step before being fully licensed and ready for launch is to have its certificate of operations approved by the MGC. The commission is currently slated to discuss the certificate during its Thursday, May 4 meeting.
Fanatics Sportsbook’s online sports betting license is tethered to Plainridge Park Casino. The MGC awarded the Category 3 online sports betting license to Fanatics Betting and Gaming back in January.
Live Brick-and-Mortar Betting in Maryland
The sportsbook operator is currently fully licensed to operate online and retail sports betting in Maryland. While it won’t launch online sports betting in the Old Line State until mid-June, it currently hosts a brick-and-mortar sportsbook at FedExField, home of the Washington Commanders.
The Fanatics Sportsbook opened at FedExField on Jan. 20. The sportsbook became the first to open inside an NFL stadium. The Arizona Cardinals opened the BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium at the start of the 2022 season, but the sportsbook is not officially located inside the stadium. The free-standing, 17,000-square foot sportsbook is located on the Great Lawn.
The Fanatics Sportsbook at FedExField is located alongside the Washington Commanders team store and can be accessed through its own entrance at Gate H, at Garrett Morgan Boulevard and FedEx Way.
The book is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.
