The NFL season can’t start soon enough for New York online sports betting.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported $312,772,147 in online sports betting handle for the week ending Sept. 3, one of its highest weekly handle totals since the summer began.

However, it also reported the second lowest weekly gross gaming revenue total since launching in January 2022, noting just $8.3 million in gross gaming revenue for the week as the state moves into the beginning of the NFL season.

New York Sports Bettors Took it to Operators

The $8.3 million in gross gaming revenue for the week was the second lowest revenue total ever for the state. The lowest weekly total, $6.2 million, came for the week ending July 17, 2022. It’s only the third time the state has seen a gross gaming revenue come in lower than $10 million.

Also, for the first time in its 87-week run, DraftKings reported a gross gaming revenue loss, losing $3.4 million to customers in the week. The online sports betting operator reported $116.35 million in handle for the week, it’s second highest weekly handle since July.

The New York State Gaming Commission releases handle and revenue reports for Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel, BetMGM, WynnBET, PointsBet, Bally Bet, Resorts World Bet, and BetRivers at the conclusion of each week.
