Miami wants LeBron James back, and for the first time all summer, it looks like they might actually get him.
The Heat have been lurking in the LeBron next team odds for weeks, stuck behind a team that felt like a lock. Then Friday hit, a couple of reports dropped, and the whole thing cracked open. Money poured in on Miami, and the Heat have now climbed all the way to the top of the board.
Let’s run through where the LeBron next team odds sit now, and why South Beach is suddenly the favorite.
LeBron Next Team Odds
Miami is the story in the LeBron next team odds. The Heat have jumped all the way to 40% on Kalshi and now lead the board. That’s a huge move for a team that was an afterthought a week ago.
All of that came at Cleveland’s expense. The Cavs have slipped to 37% and given up the top spot they held for most of free agency. Golden State holds third at 15%, kept alive mostly by the Steph Curry recruiting talk. Philadelphia at 10% rounds out the teams drawing steady money.
The money says take it seriously. There’s close to $91 million on this market, and a good chunk of it just swung from Cleveland to Miami in a matter of days. Kalshi traders have made the Heat their new favorite.

What Flipped the LeBron Odds
It started with a pair of reports on Friday. The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported that a rival team believes Miami has moved into the lead, and not long after, Brian Windhorst told ESPN Cleveland he’d heard from a good source that a deal was already done elsewhere.
Neither of those is a smoking gun on its own. Windhorst wouldn’t even name the city, and there are still a few teams in the mix. But stacked together, they negate the idea that Cleveland has this thing wrapped up. The market caught on right away, and Miami was the team that benefited.
The fit was always there, too. Imagine LeBron, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in the same frontcourt. Giannis and Bam do the dirty work on defense, and LeBron runs the offense without having to drop 30 every night. Drop that group into the NBA Championship odds conversation, and the Heat leap up the list.
The One Thing Holding Miami Back
Money is the problem, not desire. The Heat are hard-capped at the first apron thanks to the Giannis trade, so they can’t just back up the truck. ESPN’s Bobby Marks pegs a realistic LeBron offer at around $7 million.
That means Miami has to win this on the pitch, not the paycheck. They’re selling a title shot next to Giannis and Bam, plus the tax break of playing in Florida. A 41-year-old chasing one more ring might just take that deal, and Friday’s reports hint it’s getting through.
Don’t count out the rest just yet. Cleveland is still home, and Donovan Mitchell’s fresh extension gave the Cavs a running mate to build the pitch around. Golden State has the Curry connection from the 2024 Olympics, though Jimmy Butler’s ACL recovery hurts that case. Philadelphia snuck up the board after grabbing Jaylen Brown.
The truth is, nobody knows how this ends. LeBron’s camp runs everything through Rich Paul, and there haven’t been any meetings to tip his hand, so everyone is working off guesswork. What we do know is the Kalshi money has moved hard toward Miami today, and the Heat suddenly look like the team to beat.
