These two are fighting for the distinction of being the undisputed super middleweight titleholder as Alvarez defends his WBC, WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, and The Ring belts against the contender Golovkin.

Canelo Alvarez’s Betting Outlook vs Golovkin

Alvarez is moving down from 175 pounds back to 168 pounds and looks to bounce back into the win column after his second professional defeat.

The four-division champion had previously been a light heavyweight world champion but fell short in his last outing when attempting to become a two-time titleholder in that weight category.

These two have had a pair of bouts with one another that transpired in September 2017 and September 2018, respectively. It’s only fitting that the third fight would take place in September 2022.

In the first fight, the two pugilists fight to a controversial split drawing their unified middleweight world title clash. During the second bout, Alvarez wrested multiple middleweight crowns from Golovin and handed him his first and only pro defeat in what was another controversial bout many saw GGG winning.

Billy Joe Saunders, win via RTD Fight 3 Sergiy Derevyanchenko, win via UD
Avni Yildirim, win via RTD Fight 4  Steve Rolls, win via KO

The line being what it is does make sense to a degree when you consider Alvarez has a win on paper already. I think the controversial context of each of those fights though and some other variables make for Golovkin having more of a chance than these odds would indicate.

Gennadiy Golovkin 3’s Betting Outlook vs Alvarez

Golovkin is one of the most feared knockout artists of this generation but has also encroached into his forties.

The decorated middleweight world champion who has held gold every year since 2011 ( he is the current IBF, IBO, and WBA Super middleweight world titleholder) aims to garner his first win in the Alvarez series, on paper. This is going down several years after many observers thought he should have won both contests.

This is an intriguing contest with Alvarez coming down in weight while Golovkin gets to go up in weight. The reduced weight cut could give a much-needed surplus of energy and vitality to GGG in this clash as he is in the latter stages of his career while Alvarez is seen to be in the throes of his competitive prime.

Canelo Alvarez vs Gennadiy Golovkin 3 Prediction

This prizefight is going to be one of the biggest of the calendar year. I think in this threepeat affair that Alvarez takes his third pro boxing loss.

I think there is very strong underdog value here in this one. Golovkin has been on a  good roll as of late and I think he’ll be able to rise to the occasion in what is a supremely important legacy fight for him.

Pick: Gennadiy Golovkin (+380)
