  • Hardy vs Serrano goes Friday, September 13th at 7:00 pm EST
  • Can Hardy retain her title and preserve her unbeaten record?
  • Can Serrano regain the WBO featherweight gold that she never lost in the ring?

Heather Hardy vs Amanda Serrano is one of the more compelling women’s bouts you can make in present-day boxing. Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden plays host to this big co-main event super fight. Hardy’s WBO featherweight title is up for grabs and she’s facing her consensus toughest opponent to date.

There are multiple great tilts on the card and this fight might arguably be the most intriguing of them all. Both women represent NYC hard and the tag line for the title tilt is “One Borough, Two Champions, One Winner”. The New York City boxing card will broadcast to the world via DAZN. Peep the fight odds and my in-depth analysis of this matchup below.

Hardy vs Serrano Odds

Fighter Odds
Heather Hardy +800
Amanda Serrano -1600

Odds taken 09/12/19.

Hardy described herself as the “toughest girl in boxing” and described Serrano as the best in the world. Serrano has captured titles in seven different divisions so Heather’s assessment isn’t far off. Amanda Serrano won gold at 115 lbs in her last outing and is now looking to secure a belt at 126 lbs. I see her doing just that.

Serrano Becomes Queen of Brooklyn

This is a fight with tremendous competitive merit but it’s the actualization of a lot of campaigning. Both Hardy and Serrano have been vocal proponents for all of the women in boxing. Getting better spots on the cards, more Pay-per-view opportunities and more equitable pay have been things that both champions have waved the flag for. To see a fight of this magnitude come together at the World’s Most Famous Arena has to be hugely satisfying for both fighters.

The two have a history sparring together early in their respective careers. Out of all combat sports Hardy has been involved in, she said Amanda hit her harder than anyone whether in competition or in training. Both have huge fan bases in the New York area and a special Queen of Brooklyn belt will also be bestowed upon the winner.

Both women always go for the toughest challenges within boxing and also look to achieve goals outside their immediate sport. The fact that Hardy, as a champion boxer, goes over to compete in Bellator MMA is so commendable.

More champion boxers could learn from the courage and valor that Heather Hardy brings to approaching combat. The same sentiment can also be extended to Serrano who competed in MMA for Combate Americas. Both women have won in the cage but the ring is their ultimate battleground.

Hardy vs Serrano promises to be a barnburner on paper. Hardy’s war with Shelly Vincent indicates she has a tremendous heart and the ability to create a memorable display of the sweet science. Serrano is guaranteed excitement as well with nine knockouts in her last eleven contests with five first-round KOs throughout.

Hardy has to use her heart and grittiness to keep pushing the pace forward from bell to bell. Her 17-percent KO rate indicates she’ll have to put it on Serrano for the entirety of the bout. This certainly isn’t impossible but I think Serrano stops Hardy inside of eight rounds. Capturing the title and handing Hardy her first pro boxing loss in the process.

Pick: Serrano (-1600)
