Michigan Tribal Casinos See Slight Increase In Revenue In 2025

Tribal gaming in Michigan saw a slight increase in revenue in 2025 when compared to 2024.

The annual Tribal Gaming Report was released earlier this month and is the yearly indicator on how the Michigan tribal casinos are performing in terms of revenue production.

Currently, a total of 24 legal tribal casinos operate in Michigan and each is required to remit 2% of their net win on Class III gaming machines to local units of state government or local revenue sharing boards.

These payments give us a look at how each tribe performed in casino gaming for the year. In 2025, collectively the tribal casinos made a $30.61 million payment to the state and local entities. This was a 0.5% increase from 2024’s payment of $30.47 million.

MI Tribal Casino Payments Staying Level

Last year’s tribal payment was a slight increase from a year ago, but overall these payments have remained pretty consistent.

Over the last 10 years, every payment has ranged from $29.2-31.5 million. That excludes the 2020 payment, which was heavily impacted by pandemic restrictions.

These payments are essentially 1/50 of the overall revenue these casinos did on their Class III gaming in the last year. Class III gaming means slot machines, blackjack, craps, and other tables games. So, the vast majority of what you would find at a tribal casino.

Based on the 2025 payment, we can calculate that Michigan’s tribal casinos recorded $1.53 billion in Class III revenue last year.

How Each MI Tribal Casino Compared in 2025

On top of the total 2% payment, we can also see the payment each tribe made through its casino products. Here’s each 2% payment for 2025, how it compared to 2024, and what total revenue would be projected based on the payment.

Combining the $1.53 billion in projected tribal casino revenue (Class III gaming), with the $1.27 billion that the three Detroit casinos reported in 2025 revenue, puts brick-and-mortar casinos at $2.8 billion in 2025 revenue.

That still keeps them somewhat within reach of the Michigan online casinos, which tallied $3.09 billion in revenue for 2025.
