For the second consecutive month and sixth time in 2026, US online casino revenue surpassed $1 billion in August.
Collectively, the seven legal iGaming states combined for $1.02 billion in revenue last month, which matched July’s total.
When it comes to year-over-year comparison US online casino revenue in August was up 12.3% compared to $910.8 million in August 2025.
August’s US Online Casino Revenue Breakdown
Here’s a look at how each of the seven states performed in August compared to a year ago. It should be noted that some states individually report their adjusted gross revenue (AGR), which removes promotional spend from their wins. This table reflects the gross gaming revenue, which is the amount produced prior to promo spend being removed.
Three Takeaways from August’s iGaming Revenue
August was another solid month for online casino revenue in the US.
Here’s three newsworthy takeaways from what August revenue brought in.
US Over $8 Billion in 2026 Revenue
The United States iGaming industry keeps building up revenue in 2026, now surpassing $8 billion for 2026 as it is well on its way to over $12 billion for the calendar year.
Through eight months, here is how each month has looked.
- January: $1.00 billion
- February: $946.2 million
- March: $1.06 billion
- April: $1.00 billion
- May: $1.03 billion
- June: $996.5 million
- July: $1.02 billion
- August: $1.02 billion
Through eight months, the United States has now tallied $8.07 billion in online casino revenue for 2026.
With some of the strongest months each year for iGaming on the horizon, there’s no reason to believe that the US won’t continue to tack on more $1 billion months throughout the rest of the year.
Pennsylvania Back in Firm Control
Just a few months ago, Michigan was nipping at the heels of Pennsylvania online casinos for the most iGaming revenue in a month.
In June, Michigan finished just under $2 million behind the Keystone State, the closest the revenue gap has been between the two states.
However, in July, Pennsylvania widened that gap to over $9 million. Now, in August, PA bested MI by over $25 million for online casino revenue.
Pennsylvania had its second-best monthly total ever, while it was the fifth-best ever showing for Michigan online casino revenue.
Yearly Growth Showing Signs of Slowing Down
August marked the biggest sign yet that some of the top online casino states may be starting to near a peak when it comes to revenue.
New Jersey online casinos had just 4.4% year-over-year growth, which was the lowest percentage the state has ever had. The overall difference was just $10.9 million.
Michigan also saw its year-over-year growth step back to 15.1%. Throughout 2026, Michigan had shown at least 20% growth each month. However, the second half of 2025 is when Michigan online casinos really kicked into another gear for revenue, so the growth rates for the rest of 2026 are likely to be lower.
Pennsylvania has been steadier with its growth rates. The 12.7% last month was just about average for what we’ve seen on the year (12.9%). Pennsylvania is going to have trouble getting much higher than that going forward as it started to consistently produce over $290 million each month for the rest of 2025.
