  • No. 22 Arizona visits No. 13 Texas Tech in a ranked Week 9 CFB clash Saturday in Lubbock.
  • My Week 9 picks target the spread and total in this Big 12 matchup.
  • Read below for my Arizona vs Texas Tech prediction and Week 9 picks.

A high-stakes showdown with College Football Playoff implications kicks off Saturday, October 31 at noon ET on ESPN, as the No. 22 Arizona Wildcats head to Lubbock, TX, to face the No. 13 Texas Tech Red Raiders at Galaxy Stadium. Both squads enter this Week 9 clash at 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play, making this a pivotal matchup for bettors tracking the odds to make the College Football Playoff.

Arizona arrives as a dangerous road threat riding a five-game winning streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 39-3 blowout of Iowa State last week, when they allowed just 221 total yards and 52 rushing yards. Texas Tech, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back on its home turf after a 37-24 loss to Cincinnati, though the Red Raiders have won 12 straight games in Lubbock.

My Arizona vs Texas Tech prediction looks at the spread, total and the matchup between Noah Fifita and a turnover-hungry secondary. Here are the Week 9 picks and game details:

Arizona vs Texas Tech Prediction

I predict a competitive game with enough passing production to give both offenses scoring chances. I break down the spread and total selections below.

Texas Tech brings the more balanced offense into this Week 9 showdown, averaging 35.86 points and 419.1 total yards per game while running for 189.7 yards per game at 5.0 yards per carry. Arizona counters through quarterback Noah Fifita, who is completing 74.2% of his passes for 294.9 yards per game. Finding an edge requires looking past raw scoring and digging into situational execution, particularly on third downs and in the red zone.

The Red Raiders’ biggest swing factor may be their defense. Texas Tech allows 20.43 points per game, has 13 interceptions and has scored five defensive touchdowns over its past four games, including a pick-six in four consecutive games. Ball security will be critical for a pass-heavy Arizona attack. While Texas Tech’s defense is not quite as good as it was last season, it is still among the best in the country.

SpreadTexas Tech wins by over 3.5: No (Arizona +3.5)50¢
TotalOver 54.5: Yes50¢
TotalOver 54.5: No51¢

Kalshi prices as of October 31.

Each winning Kalshi contract pays $1 before fees, so the price is simply what you pay for that $1 payout. These are buy quotes, which is why the Yes and No sides of a market add up to slightly more than $1. Texas Tech is the home favorite at 62¢, but the key takeaway is the spread: buying No on Texas Tech winning by more than 3.5 points costs 50¢ and works as an Arizona +3.5 ticket.

The total is priced almost evenly, with the Over a penny cheaper than the other side. Compare these prices against the latest college football odds before locking anything in.

While Texas Tech is highly competitive at home, Arizona possesses a distinct advantage in sustaining drives. The Wildcats convert a phenomenal 54.7% of their third downs, consistently keeping their offense on the field, and Fifita is playing with elite accuracy. Arizona’s defense has also proven it can bend without breaking, allowing touchdowns on just 9 of 18 red-zone trips (50%) while racking up 23 sacks.

Texas Tech quarterback Will Hammond has been less steady, completing 67.81% of his passes for 223 yards per game with six touchdowns and six interceptions. The risk is real: the Red Raiders are 26-5 at home under Joey McGuire since 2022, and their defense keeps finding the end zone. Still, getting a hook past a field goal with the hotter team at 50¢ is my preferred spread play.

This matchup features two offenses with high ceilings. Texas Tech alone averages 35.86 points per game, so it would need only modest help from Arizona to clear this total. The Red Raiders have come away with points on 24 of 29 red-zone trips, though only 15 of those ended in touchdowns. Settling for field goals is the biggest threat to this ticket.

Arizona’s path runs through the air. Fifita’s 294.9 passing yards per game meet a Texas Tech defense that allows 266.14 passing yards per game, and that 54.7% third-down rate should create extra snaps for the Wildcats. Arizona’s defense limits red-zone touchdowns, so the Over needs both offenses to finish drives. At 50¢, though, the number sits low enough to back a game with this much passing volume.
