Week 9 College Football Games to Watch

1. Ohio State at USC

  • 7:30 pm ET | NBC

Julian Sayin is out indefinitely with a throwing arm injury suffered at Indiana, and Ryan Day hasn’t named a replacement. Luke Fahey and Tavien St. Clair are both in the mix, and Day has left open the idea of using both.

Ohio State is 6-1 and off a bye after winning 19-15 in Bloomington. USC is 6-2 and coming off a 24-7 loss at Wisconsin that produced minus-18 net rushing yards on 25 carries, and the Ohio State vs USC odds have the Buckeyes favored by 6.5.

2. Florida vs Georgia

  • 3:30 pm ET | ABC (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta)

The rivalry is in Atlanta for the first time, with Georgia as the designated home team. The Bulldogs are 6-1 and rebounding from a 27-24 home loss to Auburn, while Florida is 5-2 after winning 27-24 at Texas.

Georgia scores 43.0 points and allows 15.9, with Gunner Stockton at 1,570 yards and 16 touchdowns. Florida scores 39.6 but gives up 28.3, and Jon Sumrall hasn’t settled on Aaron Philo or Tramell Jones Jr., while the Florida vs Georgia spread has the Bulldogs favored by 11.5.

3. Arizona at Texas Tech

  • Noon ET | ESPN

Both teams are 6-1 and 3-1 in the Big 12. Arizona has won five straight, most recently 39-3 over Iowa State, where Noah Fifita threw for 308 yards and the defense held the Cyclones to 221 total yards.

Texas Tech is coming off its first loss, at Cincinnati, and carries a 12-game home winning streak into Lubbock. The Red Raiders have five defensive touchdowns and a pick-six in four straight games, and the Arizona vs Texas Tech line of 3.5 matches Wisconsin–Iowa as the tightest spread in this guide.

4. Utah at Cincinnati

  • 3:45 pm ET | ESPN

Utah is 7-0 and 4-0 in the Big 12 after a 21-13 win over Houston in which Devon Dampier ran for 150 yards. The Utes score 37.4 points, allow 14.6 and give up only 88.3 rushing yards a game.

Cincinnati is 5-2 and just handed Texas Tech its first defeat. Utah is laying 6.5 on the road with BYU waiting the following week, so the Utah vs Cincinnati spread assumes the Utes stay locked in.

5. Wisconsin at Iowa

  • Noon ET | FOX

The 100th meeting in this series, with the Heartland Trophy on the line and both teams at 5-2. Wisconsin arrives off a 24-7 win over USC, and Iowa lost 13-10 at Minnesota despite holding the Gophers to 209 total yards.

Kirk Ferentz said the plan is to start quarterback Hank Brown, while running back Kamari Moulton is out for the season. Iowa allows 14.3 points and 82.9 rushing yards, and the Wisconsin vs Iowa total of 36.5 is the lowest on the board.

6. Miami at North Carolina

  • 7:30 pm ET | ABC

Top-ranked Miami is 7-0 and 5-0 in the ACC, and Bill Belichick gets the No. 1 team in Chapel Hill. North Carolina is 4-3 after a 31-30 overtime loss to Syracuse.

Miami plays at Notre Dame the following week, which is worth keeping in mind. The Miami vs North Carolina odds have the Canes favored by 14 in a night window on ABC.

7. Minnesota at Indiana

  • 3:30 pm ET | CBS

Indiana is 7-1 and fourth in the country, with Josh Hoover at 1,741 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and one interception. Minnesota is 5-2 and 3-1 in the Big Ten after beating Iowa 13-10.

Drake Lindsey has 1,472 yards with nine touchdowns and six picks for the Gophers. The Minnesota vs Indiana spread of 20.5 is the second-largest here, paired with a modest 41.5 total.

8. Arizona State at BYU

  • 3:30 pm ET | FOX

BYU is 6-1 and home for the first time since a 39-31 double-overtime loss at UCF. The Cougars convert 54.7% of their third downs, which has carried the offense all season.

Arizona State comes in at 4-3. The Arizona State vs BYU line of 16 says Provo is expected to respond in a big way after that first defeat.

9. Clemson at Florida State

  • 7:00 pm ET | ACC Network

Neither team is where it expected to be, with Clemson at 4-3 and Florida State at 3-4 and 1-3 in the ACC. This one is about the rivalry rather than the standings.

Florida State is also honoring Peter Warrick with an on-campus College Football Hall of Fame salute that night. Doak Campbell on Halloween with Warrick back in town should be worth the trip.

10. Notre Dame vs Navy

  • Noon ET | ABC (Gillette Stadium, Foxborough)

This one is at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, not Annapolis. Notre Dame is 6-1 and ranked fifth, scoring 41.1 points while allowing 13.4, and hosts Miami the following week.

Navy is 2-5 and the Notre Dame vs Navy spread reflects that at 30, the biggest spread in this guide. Navy games still move differently than anything else on the schedule.
