On Saturday, October 10, the unranked Stanford Cardinal (2-3) travel to South Bend to face the No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-0). Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET at Notre Dame Stadium.
Notre Dame is 5-0 after beating North Carolina 37-26, the Irish’s closest win of the season. Stanford is 2-3 following a 57-3 loss to Wake Forest and has dropped 19 of its last 20 games against ranked opponents.
Stanford vs Notre Dame Matchup Prediction
- Best bet: Over 53.5 total points (51¢ on Kalshi)
My Stanford vs Notre Dame prediction is an Irish win with lots of points on the scoreboard. My actionable play is Over 53.5 at 51¢. Notre Dame averages 41.2 points, so the Irish can supply most of the scoring; Stanford’s ability to contribute is the key concern against this defense. Notre Dame games have cleared this mark in three of five games. Stanford games have also cleared this mark in three of five games.
When evaluating sports betting picks for a game with such a stark talent discrepancy, I start with the trenches and turnover differential. The Irish boast an elite +9 turnover margin, taking the ball away 11 times while committing two team giveaways on offense.
Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr has been exceptional executing this offense. He has logged 13 passing touchdowns and three rushing scores with one turnover on the year. He operates behind an offensive line that has allowed a mere two sacks. Against a Stanford defensive scheme that has generated just 4.0 sacks all season, Carr should have time to pick apart the secondary. I expect him to lean heavily on receiver Jordan Faison, who has recorded a first down on 20 of his 25 catches.
On the other side, Stanford quarterback Davis Warren faces a difficult matchup against Notre Dame’s pass rush. Warren has completed just 17 of 47 passes under pressure (36.2%), while the Irish defense has racked up 14 sacks and yields 216.4 total yards per game.
Stanford vs Notre Dame Betting Line
The Stanford vs Notre Dame betting line makes the Irish a heavy favorite. These are Kalshi’s available contract prices, not its last-traded probability.

A 51¢ winning contract pays $1 before fees, returning 49¢ profit. That is approximately -104 in American moneyline terms. The Notre Dame moneyline showed no available Yes ask, so I am not presenting its 99% last-traded figure as a price readers can buy. The total offers an actionable alternative to that outright prediction.

Stanford vs Notre Dame Team Stats
The Stanford vs Notre Dame stats comparison shows why I favor the Irish, while also highlighting the challenge Stanford faces contributing to the total.
The field position battle is heavily skewed toward Notre Dame. They average 428.4 total yards per game compared to Stanford’s 336.6. When the Irish reach the red zone, their efficiency is a staggering 91.7%. They have limited mistakes, with an FBS-low 14 penalties through five games.
Stanford’s offense isn’t built to overcome massive deficits. Warren is completing an overall 59% of his passes (102 for 173), but his receivers haven’t done him many favors, registering 19 drops on the year. Stanford has produced 1,239 passing yards compared with just 444 rushing yards, making the Cardinal one-dimensional.
Against an aggressive Irish defensive front, those missed opportunities and lack of rushing balance could stall drives. Notre Dame has the blueprint to control the clock, stuff the run, and force Warren into obvious passing situations on third down—a down where Stanford converts at just a 34.2% clip. That defensive edge supports my outright prediction, though a low Stanford scoring output would threaten the Over.
