Line Movement Favors Buckeyes

The betting market seems to be siding with Ohio State to win comfortably on Monday night. The spread opened with the Buckeyes as 9.5-point favorites, but early money came in on Notre Dame, dropping the line to as low as -8.0 at some books.

However, in the days leading up to the game, sharp money has come back in on Ohio State, driving the line back up to -9.0 at bet365 and even -9.5 at BetRivers. The moneyline odds have also shifted towards the Buckeyes, moving from around -390 to as high as -425 currently.

I’m leaning towards Notre Dame covering the 9-point spread in a hard-fought defensive battle, but the Buckeyes have the offensive firepower to run away with it if they get rolling. That makes the under my best bet given the defensive playmakers on both sides and the magnitude of the game potentially leading to a conservative start.

Recent head-to-head history also favors a tight, lower-scoring battle. While Ohio State won both meetings in 2022 and 2023, Notre Dame covered as an underdog and the under hit in each showdown.

The Buckeyes deserve to be solid favorites with their high-octane offense, but don’t count out the Irish on the big stage. Consider Notre Dame +9 or better and the under 46 among your top OSU-ND wagers for this blockbuster matchup.
