CSGO’s BLAST Premier Global Final is near its last legs. In the upper bracket semifinals, Astralis knocked off G2 Esports 2-1, while Team Vitality dominated Team Liquid 2-0.

Astralis were the favorites heading into the Global Final, as they continue to look like the ‘team to beat’ in this tournament. However, the oddsmakers have made this matchup as even as possible with both teams listed at -120 odds on the moneyline.

Let’s take a look at the odds and decipher the best bet for this matchup.

ZywOo Continues  His Reign of Terror

Vitality faced off against Team Liquid in the upper bracket semifinals where the first map had them fighting off their back foot. Despite the recent roster change, Team Liquid came prepared with stellar team play. They managed to jump out first half taking a 9-6 lead on Nuke.

It did not take long for apEX to turn up the heat on their T Side. Marching his team back to a commanding lead due to heroics from ZywOo. Showing his raw aim skill in winning a post plant 1v2 scenario with only 2 HP on an economic reset round.

Taking this momentum into Vertigo where Shox had his best game to start off the year. The veteran boasted 27 kills that included an overall 103 average damage per round. While both the maps were relatively close in rounds, Team Vitality was in full control from start to finish in the second round. The question being, will they push Astralis to pick Vertigo against them?

Astralis Back to Business

Astralis has started off both series in BLAST Premier Global Finals by losing the first map in each. Despite the rough start, they held composure and managed to win both of the matches.

The first win against Evil Geniuses (EG) was one to note specifically when considering the end result. After the nail-biting first map, they went on to win the next two maps by keeping EG to a single-digit round total in both. EG came into Inferno with a set gameplan and executed a quick banana control heavy default, which led to an early lead.

Despite being down early, Astralis managed to pull it together and win the half. The fact they were able to pull it back shows me they are mentally in this tournament.

The mental fortitude paid dividends in their matchup against G2 Esports. Astralis was able to scrape together a gritty victory in three maps that came all the way down the last round in map three.

Dust 2 was an issue against G2 Esports. A normally stellar CT Side had holes blown in it by NiKo as he led G2 Esports to take 11 rounds in the first half. This does not bode well going into the matchup with Vitality since Dust 2 has been played in their past four head-to-head matchups.

Final Analysis

All that considered, we are in for the best match of the tournament thus far. They have mirrored map pools, which have led the past four series between them to go the full distance. The past two matches resulted in a map pick trade, where each team won the opposing team’s map choice.

That is the result of two teams that do not necessarily have home maps. I think this one goes all three as well. I would rather have my money on the side than on one team in particular. This is your definition of a pick-em match.

Pick: Over 2.5 Maps (-120)
