My favorite bet this afternoon is the Magic +3. Detroit is one-dimensional as an offense relying almost exclusively on Cade Cunningham. The lack of secondary scoring led to the Pistons early demise in last year’s postseason, and if they don’t turn things around soon they might be looking at a similar fate.

Make no mistake, Cunningham is an elite talent, capable of taking over games. During the regular season, he was complemented nicely by the emergence of Jalen Duren, but the Detroit big has been a non-factor so far this series.

After averaging 20 points per game in the regular season, Duren has been held to 19 points total through two games. Cunningham’s other teammates haven’t performed much better either, especially from beyond the arc. The Pistons have a 52.6% true shooting percentage this series, and are shooting a dreadful 20% on corner threes.

Their 101.0 offensive rating is the third worst of any postseason club, and they’re averaging just 99.5 points per contest. Not exactly the stuff of a legit NBA Championship odds contender.

Orlando’s offense has admittingly run hot and cold through two games, but their lackluster Game 2 performance can be chalked up to fatigue. Don’t forget they had to play must win regular season games down the stretch before jumping right into two high-stakes Play-In Tournament games. Now, with an extra day of rest to recover, I expect fresh legs and a performance similar to what we saw in Game 1 of this series.

The Magic matchup extremely well versus the Pistons. They have the size and physicality to limit Duren in the interior, and enough paint scoring and outside shooting to crack Detroit’s stingy defense. They’ll need a big performance from former No. 1 pick Paolo Banchero to defend home court, but he’s thrived so far under the heavy playoff spotlight and in this matchup. Banchero is averaging 26.3 points per game versus the Pistons this season, shooting 52.4% from the field.

• Ausar Thompson Over 5.5 Rebounds (-131 at DraftKings)

Moving over to the NBA props market, where I see some glaring value on the glass in Game 3. My best bet is backing Ausar Thompson to clear 5.5 rebounds. While Cunningham dominates the Pistons usage rate, Thompson has quietly been a menace on the boards.

Through two games, Thompson has pulled down 15 rebounds. He’s racked up those stats on less than 27 minutes of floor time per game, and there’s a big argument to be made he should see even more playing time, given his ability to generate second chance opportunities. Speaking of that, the Magic have allowed 11.5 offensive rebounds per game during this series, opening the door for Thompson to make an impact at the offensive end without racking up points.
