  • DreamLeague Season 11 starts March 14th
  • Will we see another Secret/VP final?
  • We’ve selected the best value picks to reach the finals

DreamLeague Season 11 is the third Major of the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit and will take place March 14, in Stockholm. Sixteen teams will battle it out over 10 days for a $1,000,000 prize and 15,000 DPC points.

Heading into DreamLeague Team Secret are the favorite to come out on top, fresh off winning the Chongqing Major. While they look to take back-to-back Majors, Chongqing runner-ups Virtus.Pro hope to get some revenge and claim their second Major of the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit. The two have headlined both of the Major finals this year, but will that be the case again in Sweden?

Back to Back to Back?

The top two teams in Dota2 heading into DreamLeague faced off in the finals of both of the Majors so far this season, with each team taking one. Team Secret and Virtus.Pro come into the third Major tied in DPC points, and they are both favored to once again meet up in the finals.

Team Secret have only lost three series in the last two Majors, with two coming to Virtus.Pro.

Team Secret are the odds-on favorite to reach the finals of DreamLeague, and rightfully so. They have only lost three series in the last two Majors, with two coming to VP, but other than that they have pretty much been untouchable.

Breezing through the Upper Bracket of Kuala Lumpur and Chongqing without dropping a game until the finals, Secret has just looked so good this season. Even though Team Secret has looked as good as they have, Virtus.Pro has been right there the whole time.

VP have a Major win under their belt, and also cruised through the Upper Bracket of both Majors without dropping a game until the finals. With these two teams performing the way they have thus far in the 2018-19 season, it’s hard to imagine seeing any matchup other than Team Secret/Virtus.Pro in the finals of DreamLeague.

Value Picks to Make the Finals

Though it seems like another Secret/VP final is in the cards already, there are a few other teams that could find themselves on the big stage come March 24th. Two that I would keep an eye on would be PSG.LGD and Evil Geniuses.

Both are teams that have had a solid start to the season, with PSG.LGD, finishing in the top-6 of each Major, and Evil Geniuses taking back-to-back third place finishes. The TI8 runner-ups, PSG, were the only other team to take a series off Team Secret at a Major this season. On the other hand, Evil Geniuses has found themselves in the Lower Bracket final of each Major, falling to the eventual winner in each case.

Maybe one of these two teams is able to get it done this time around in Sweden, and with better value than Team Secret and Virtus.Pro, each might be worth taking a look at if you’re looking for a higher risk/higher reward play.

Picks: Team Secret (-115), Virtus.Pro (+105)

Who Will be the First to Two Majors?

With Team Secret and Virtus.Pro as my picks to reach the finals, the only question is who takes it this time around? The Russian side of VP took the first Major of the 2018-19 DPC, and the EU side Secret took the second.

In both Kuala Lumpur and Chongqing, the two squads met up in the finals of the Upper Bracket. The loser of that game eventually ended up beating Evil Geniuses in the Lower Bracket Final both times on their way to exacting revenge and winning the Major.

If patterns tell us anything it’s time for Virtus.Pro to come out on top in the third Major of the season, but I wouldn’t rely on any pattern here. I fully expect Team Secret to come out on top this time around.

I fully expect Team Secret to come out on top this time around.

With the momentum in their favor from Chongqing, I think Team Secret are just getting started. I expect a big year for the Europeans, and coming out and winning two Majors out of three might just be a good start.

Pick: Team Secret (+275)
