  • The Barracuda Championship tees off Thursday, July 25th
  • Opposite field event to the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational allows young guns & struggling vets a chance at victory
  • We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious

For those players who didn’t qualify for the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, the Barracuda Championship offers a chance to win a PGA Tour title against a diluted field, one that includes a past two-time major champ like Martin Kaymer and a young hotshot upstart in Collin Morikawa.

This tournament uses the unique Modified Stableford Scoring System which rewards lots of birdies and eagles while it punishes bogeys or worse with a points system. So when you see the winner at +47 (47 points), don’t panic, because that’s a good thing in this fun and quirky format.

Bill Haas Poised to Return to Winner’s Circle

Six-time PGA Tour winner Bill Haas fell on tough times last season, battling injury stemming from a fatal car crash he was involved in, but the last two weeks have provided a glimpse of a light at the end of the tunnel for the 37-year-old.

In the last two weeks, he’s been on the periphery of contention, posting a T-10 at the John Deere Classic and was right in the thick of things going into the final round of the Barbasol Championship before settling on a T-11 finish.

The veteran has solid +2800 odds to win his first tournament in four years.

Kelly Kraft Out to Avenge Tough Barbasol Championship Loss

At last week’s Barbasol Championship, we noted Kelly Kraft was a huge boom or bust candidate, and he nearly won at +12500 odds, with two late bogeys sinking his chances.

This week, he’s still sporting fantastic +6600 odds, which is great value for a guy who very nearly won last week. Bet Kraft to boom again this week, with the expectation that he potentially could bust as well.

2019 Barracuda Championship Best Value Picks

  1. Sam Saunders (+5000): Arnold Palmer’s Grandson hasn’t had the best of years but he has T-10
& T-23 finishes this month. Also a horse for this course, with T-7, 8th & T-9th results in last three years at this event.
  2. Jim Herman (+8000): Was having an absolutely dreadful season before clipping Kelly Kraft to win the Barbasol Championship last weekend.
  3. Chad Campbell (+15000): This week’s boom or bust candidate, who, like Herman, has been having a rough year. Last year nearly won this tournament, finishing runner-up to Andrew Putnam.
