Wednesday’s MLB betting slate features a nice full slate of games, with 15 on the docket. One of these games, the Tigers vs. Rangers game, features a Rangers team that rakes at home.

So, with that in mind, we will be fading the Tigers starting pitcher in Joey Wentz.

Best MLB Player Props – Wednesday, June 28th

Prop Odds
Joey Wentz Under 4.5 Strikeouts -106
Logan Gilbert Under 5.5 Strikeouts -110

Wentz has gone under 5 strikeouts in seven of his last ten starts. Sure, just two starts ago he recorded 9 Ks, but keep in mind that was against the Twins and they are essentially a little league team when it comes to how often they strikeout.

So, with that said, for our first pick of the evening will be taking Wentz to go under 4.5 strikeouts.

MLB Player Prop #1: Joey Wentz Under 4.5 Strikeouts

If the Tampa Bay Rays, and their absurd bats didn’t exist, the Rangers would have the best offense at home in the entire MLB, according to WRC+. If you’re preferred stat to measure offense is OPS, well then the Rangers would have the best offense in the MLB at home. Not only do they mash at home, but they also rarely strikeout, with a K rate of only 21.7%.

This might surprise you, but if you look at lefties specifically, since Wentz is a south-paw, the Rangers are good against them as well. They have the second-best WRC+ and OPS in the MLB against LHP, and a lower strikeout rate at 21%. So, no matter how you slice it, the Rangers are an elite offense at home.

Enter Joey Wentz, who is NOT an elite strikeout pitcher by any means. He has a strikeout rate of 20.1%, which would put him towards the bottom of the MLB if he had pitched enough innings to qualify. His K/inning rate is 0.91, which is in the 35th percentile league wide.

Not only does he not have great strikeout numbers, but he also doesn’t last deep into games, either. He has yet to pitch more than 6 innings in any start so far this season.

Pick: Joey Wentz Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-106)

MLB Player Prop #2: Logan Gilbert Under 5.5 Strikeouts

Not to be a debbie downer, but we are going with another under for our second strikeout prop of the day. The good news, though, is that this Nats vs. Mariners game is being played at 4:10 ET, so you’ll have some action to sweat out before the rest of the games start.

Gilbert started off the year recording 6+ strikeouts in his first seven starts, and in 10 of his first 12. Since then, he has missed it in three straight starts. In those three starts, he has averaged just above 3 strikeouts per game.

Even with that torrid start to the year, it is not as though he is an elite strikeout pitcher when you look at his advanced stats. He averages 1.03 K/inning (55th percentile), with an 11.1% swinging strike rate (49th percentile) and a 27.8% called strike + whiff rate (47th percentile).

On the other side of the ball, you have the Nationals, who are probably the last team you’d want to see when you are on a strikeout slump. They rank dead-last in the MLB in strikeout rate against RHP at 18.7%.

Against right-handed pitching, they have only struck out 6 or more times once in their last ten games. Looking at their lineup, they only have one qualified batter that strikes out over 25% of the time, which would be Lane Thomas at 26%. They only have two batters that even strike out over 20% of the time.

Pick: Logan Gilbert Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-110)
