After a devastating 18-inning loss in Game 3, the Toronto Blue Jays responded with championship mettle in Game 4, gutting out a 6-2 over the Los Angeles Dodgers to even the best-of-seven World Series at two games apiece.

The starting-pitching matchup is a repeat of Game 1 with LA’s Blake Snell facing Toronto rookie Trey Yesavage. Perceived to have a big edge on the mound, Los Angeles has opened as a significant favorite in the Blue Jays/Dodgers Game 5 odds.

Toronto was a +180 underdog in Game 4, which featured an elite pitching matchup between Shohei Ohtani and Shane Bieber. Both starters were good, but Bieber was better (5.1 IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 3K). The Jays got to Ohtani for four runs on six hits and a walk over 6.0 IP and than tagged the LA bullpen for two more.

After LA took a 1-0 lead in the second, Vladimir Guerrero put the Jays ahead for good in the top of the third with a two-run home run.

Updated World Series Odds

Even though the Blue Jays now have home-field advantage in what amounts to a best-of-three, the Dodgers remain sizable favorites in the 2025 World Series odds. LAD is a -190 favorite at DraftKings (and -175 at Caesars). Toronto is a +150 underdog.

Those odds may not be terribly optimistic for Toronto, but they’re a quantum lead ahead of where they sat four hours ago. Before Game 4, the Dodgers were massive -494 favorites (on average), while the Jays were +375 longshots.

Game 5 Probable Starters: Yesavage vs Snell

Snell had been nearly untouchable in his first three postseason starts, going 21.0 innings while allowing just two runs on six hits and five walks with 27 strikeouts. That wasn’t the case in Game 1, though, when the Jays tagged him for five runs on eight hits and three walks in an 11-4 rout.

Daulton Varsho took Snell yard with two-run shot in the fourth inning. That implosion from Snell ran counter, not just to his postseason performance to date, but also his track record against the Toronto hitters. Prior to Game 1, they had just a ..227 average and .623 OPS against Snell in 66 ABs.

Toronto rookie Yesavage was better, but not great. He allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over just 4.0 innings (1.75 WHIP).
