How Does FanDuel Dinger Tuesday Work?

First, you have to  sign-up at FanDuel Sportsbook if you haven’t already. But this isn’t just a promo for new customers; it’s open to all FanDuel Sportsbook users each Tuesday during the MLB season.

Once you have an account, you have to opt-in to the Dinger Tuesday promo via FanDuel Sportsbook’s “Promos” page. (Second from the top in the left-hand menu.) Then place a minimum $25 wager on any player to hit a home run on Tuesday, April 19.

For each home run that’s hit in that game, you will receive $5 in free bets from FanDuel Sportsbook. If the player you bet on hits a homer, as well, you will also win your qualifying wager.

So if there are five home runs in the game, you will come out roughly even, regardless of whether the player you picked hits a home run.

But note that the average MLB game in the 2021 season featured 2.45 home runs. So don’t expect this to be a winning long-term play unless you’re making smart picks with your qualifying wager.

Home Run Best Bet for April 19

My favorite bet of the day – and remember, you can only use this promo on one game each Tuesday – is New York’s Gleyber Torres to go deep against Detroit and starter Tyler Alexander.

Torres is 2-2 against Alexander in his career with one home run already.  And while that’s not much history to go on, Torres has always hit much better against lefties (which Alexander is).

The weather report is for 15 mph winds blowing out at at Comerica Park, which has been averaging 2.5 home runs per game in the first six contests of 2022. (Though note that it was the second-lowest in terms of home runs per game in 2021.)

Picks: Gleyber Torres (+490)
