For starters, our other guy from the last article, Max Muncy, got scratched a few hours before the game. That left us with only one move, which was Brandon Lowe. Tonight, we’re getting two, and they’re both going deep. Both are in good health and swinging bats like absolute titans. If we’re being honest with ourselves (we are), this could easily go down as the greatest day of our lives. Look alive.

HR Parlay Leg #1 – Kerry Carpenter to Hit a Home Run

We’ll be at Target Field for what is by far our best home run move of the night. Maybe even the week, month, or possibly the year. We’re talking Kerry Carpenter here. “Barry”, as we call him on the streets. Everyone knows we like betting Barry around here, and he’s going to show us why tonight.

Just look at what he does to the pitch mix he’s going to see tonight. How do we NOT bet him?

Here’s the thing, I feel like we may be punching down here just a little bit. For starters, Barry has already taken Pierson Ohl deep once this season. It was like a week ago. The guy almost killed someone in the stands with an absolute laser beam. It was a sight to see.

Now logic would tell us that Ohl will likely not give Barry another changeup to hit (that was the pitch that was crushed), but Ohl really only throws a changeup or four-seamer to lefties. As fate would have it, Barry crushes four-seamers from righties as well. At the end of the day, there is really nothing Ohl can do tonight when Carpenter comes to the plate. Advantage us. Feels right.

HR Parlay Leg #2 – Julio Rodriguez to Hit a Home Run

Our second move actually starts before our first move, but I wanted to emphasize the Carpenter move. It’s that good. The thing is, our second move for the night on Julio Rodriguez is just about as good. I swear, everything is coming up “us” so far today.

Just look at the pitch mix data. It’s glorious.

Here’s the deal with this one: we’re looking for a four-seamer. The data tells us that Julio smashes changeups from lefties, which is why I included that pitch, but Manaea barely throws it. Still, Manaea throws his four-seamer 65+% of the time, so we’re good there. Why? Because Julio has a .293 ISO on that pitch from southpaws. That’s good. On top of that, he’s on fire recently so this whole thing just works. Feels easy.
