  • The Atlanta Braves have overtaken Philadelphia in the race for first place in the NL East while winning 10 of 12 overall
  • The Texas Rangers look to continue their recently improved play on the road against the Cincinnati Reds
  • The Milwaukee Brewers continue to lead the way in the NL West but search for consistency on the road as they visit the Giants

The red-hot Atlanta Braves ride a seven-game win streak into a weekend series with the Philadelphia Phillies that is shaping up as a battle for supremacy in the NL East, and the Milwaukee Brewers look to extend their lead atop the NL Central as they travel to San Francisco for a three-game set with the resurgent Giants.

In Interleague play, the Texas Rangers are surprising underdogs as they aim to cement their hold on an AL Wild Card in this weekend’s visit to Cincinnati.

We have odds for each of these new series as well as every other series kicking off on Friday.

Phillies Visit Atlanta in Battle for First-Place in the NL East

First place in the NL East division will be on the line when the red-hot Atlanta Braves open a three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday as -145 favorites on the MLB series prices at BookMaker. The Braves have won seven in a row to take over top spot in the NL East, 1.5 games up on Philadelphia.

The Braves are coming off a four-game sweep of the free-falling Pittsburgh Pirates, and have now won six straight at SunTrust Park. The Atlanta offense has been on fire during the club’s surge, averaging seven runs per game, and have scored seven or more on eight occasions over their past 12 outings. However, the Braves have also surrendered a worrisome six runs per game over their past five outings, generating a steady 8-0-1 run for the OVER in totals betting.

Aaron Nola June 15 Sean Newcomb
TBD June 16 Mike Foltynewicz

The Phillies hit the road as +125 underdogs on the series prices after dropping a 2-0 decision to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday to fall to 1-3 in their past four. Philadelphia has been susceptible to streaky play during its current 5-8 overall run, and is also a middling 6-7 in 13 road dates.

Philadelphia currently enjoys a five-game win streak against the Braves, fueled by a three-game sweep on home turf to open the season. However, the Phillies have been dominated in recent trips to Atlanta, losing five straight, and have posted just one series win on the road against the Braves since May 2016.

Pick: Braves (-145)

Texas Rangers vs Cincinnati Reds Series Price

Texas Rangers +160
Cincinnati Reds -185

Rangers Try to Strengthen Grip on AL Wild Card in Series with Slumping Reds

The Texas Rangers look to maintain their slender grasp on the second wild card in the AL when they visit the Cincinnati Reds this weekend as +160 underdogs. The Rangers visit Cincinnati after splitting a four-game set in Boston that leaves them one game up on the Red Sox in the AL Wild Card race.

Despite dropping a pair of one-run decisions in Boston, the Rangers have shown signs of turning around what has been a dismal run on the road this season. The club posted a season-high four-game road winning streak prior to this week’s back-to-back losses to the Red Sox, and is 7-5 in their past 12 road contests, including series wins in Kansas City and Seattle, after opening the season on a shaky 5-15 road run.

Rangers vs Reds Probable Starting Pitchers

Rangers
VS
Reds
Jesse Chavez June 14 Tyler Mahle
Mike Minor June 15 Tanner Roark
Ariel Jurado June 16 Sonny Gray

The Reds return home as -185 favorites despite going 3-4 on their recent road trip. Overall, Cincinnati has failed to tally consecutive wins during a 4-7 overall run, and is winless in the team’s past three home series. The Reds have also failed to win consecutive games while 4-6 in 10 meetings with Texas, and haven’t posted a series win at home over the Rangers since 2004. However, the club has been playing steady defense of late, allowing just 3.11 runs per game over their past nine.

Pick: Rangers (+160)

Milwaukee Brewers vs San Francisco Giants Series Price

Team Odds at BookMaker
Milwaukee Brewers -155
San Francisco Giants -135

Brewers Visit Giants Looking to Extend Lead Atop NL Central

The Milwaukee Brewers hope to continue the steady play that has earned them wins in six of nine road contests when they open a three-game weekend series in San Francisco on Friday as -155 favorites.

The Brewers split a pair of games in Houston to open an eight-game road trip, and have averaged a solid 6.5 runs per game while winning five of six overall. Milwaukee’s offensive outburst could not have come at a better time. The club holds a narrow one-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central despite racking up a middling 17-16 road record. However, the club has come up big in recent contests away from Miller Park, posting important series wins in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, while also splitting a two-game set with the red-hot Minnesota Twins.

Brewers vs Giants Probable Starting Pitchers

Brewers
VS
Giants
Zach Davies June 14 Drew Pomeranz
Jimmy Nelson June 15 Madison Bumgarner
Chase Anderson June 16 Jeff Samardzija

Pegged as +135 underdogs on the MLB series odds, the Giants are coming off a pair of wins over San Diego after dropping two of three to the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.

Overall, San Francisco has won seven of 12, but have failed to enjoy the benefit of home cooking, with this week’s sweep of the visiting Padres marking their only consecutive wins at AT&T Park since mid-April. However, they are likely to be in tough in the series opener, as the Brewers send Zach Davies to the mound. Davies is a perfect 7-0 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in seven road starts.

Pick: Brewers (-155)
