  • Clint Frazier had 11 home runs and 34 RBI’s in 53 games with the New York Yankees
  • Frazier is batting .433 with four home runs in his last eight games in Triple-A
  • The Cleveland Indians and New York Mets are good landing spots for Frazier

New York Yankees outfielder Clint Frazier is coming off a huge game in the minors, going four-for-four with a pair of home runs, a double, and three RBI’s. While the Yankees would like to call him up, there isn’t much room on the roster.

Does that mean the Pinstripes might move him at the trade deadline? Let’s take a closer look at a prop that focuses on the young slugger.

Clint Frazier Trade Odds

Team Odds
New York Yankees (no trade) +105
Arizona Diamondbacks +230
Cleveland Indians +400
Texas Rangers +500
New York Mets +600

No Room For Frazier?

It seems like the Yankees simply don’t have room for the prospect as of right now. He played 53 games with the big club as they dealt with all sorts of injuries to start the season, clubbing 11 home runs and collecting 34 RBI’s while batting .283. He was visibly dejected when he was sent down.

At the same time, he’s played very well of late in Triple-A. He was hitting .433 with four home runs in his last eight games going into Friday. The issue is that they don’t seem to have space for him. Brett Gardner was sent to the injured list but instead of calling up Frazier, they called up lefty reliever Stephen Tarpley.

That left the team with just two players on the bench with nobody that has outfield experience. Calling up Frazier could have made sense in this spot.

Yankees Need Starting Pitching

The Yankees are a World Series contender that’s maybe one or two pieces away. They do need some starting pitching and Frazier looks like he’s ready for the big leagues, so he’s an attractive piece. Moving him makes a lot of sense.

Remember that for all of his offensive prowess, Frazier was a below-average player in the field. He had a fielding percentage of just .950 and committed three errors with the team. More importantly, the Yankees have Mike Tauchman and Cameron Maybin, so it’s not as if they need Frazier right now.

The Yankees have been closely linked to Marcus Stroman, who has a 3.06 ERA with the Toronto Blue Jays. He might cost the Yankees a couple of prospects to get. If they want someone like Trevor Bauer, that will cost the Yankees even more. Frazier is likely to be part of any of those packages if they want to improve now.

Indians, Mets Worth A Flier

The Cleveland Indians seem set on moving Trevor Bauer as they have Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco on the mend. As soon as they’re healthy, they’ll give the starting pitching a boost. What they need is another bat and Frazier looks like he’s ready to help a big-league club.

And if it’s not the Indians, then I’d take a flier on the Mets. Noah Syndergaard is probably on the move as the Mets break things down and a trade to the Yankees makes plenty of sense. The Yankees could put together a package around Frazier and Deivi Garcia.

At the end of the day, Frazier has trade value right now based on what he did earlier in the season and what he’s done recently in Triple-A. The Yankees also have depth in the outfield, so he’s expendable. I’d expect him to get moved to either the Indians or Mets before the trade deadline.
