Hill struggled in his last outing, losing to the Minnesota Twins on Monday at Boston just three days after the death of his father. He lasted 4.2 innings and allowed four runs on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Hill is 2-0 in his career against the Rays with a 4.01 ERA in 12 games (three starts). He pitched for Tampa Bay last season and is 4-3 with a 3.22 ERA in 16 games (13 starts) at Tropicana Field.

This will be Hill’s second road start after he gave up three runs in 4.1 innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on April 12 at Detroit in his season debut. Each of his starts have been during the day.
The Rays’ Kevin Kiermaier is hitless in seven at-bats against Hill.
McClanahan had a strong outing his last time out as he held the Cubs to one run and four hits in six innings on Monday at Chicago. He did not factor in the decision, though, despite having nine strikeouts and no walks.
The last time McClanahan faced the Red Sox he had a nightmarish outing, giving up five runs in 0.2 innings of relief in Game 4 of last year’s ALDS as Boston completed the series win. Overall, McClanahan is 2-1 with a 4.15 ERA against the Red Sox in five games (four starts).
McClanahan is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts at The Trop this season. In his lone start in a day game, McClanahan pitched 4.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision against the visiting Baltimore Orioles on April 8 in the season opener.

Red Sox vs Rays Betting Outlook
Kiermaier’s two-run walk-off home run capped a three-run Rays’ rally in the bottom of the 10th Saturday night. That came after the Red Sox broke up Tampa Bay’s no-hit bid and scored twice in the top of the inning.
Down 2-0, the Rays scored a run on a two-out throwing error by second baseman Trevor Story. Kiermaier then connected off Hansel Robles.

Bobby Dalbec’s leadoff triple in the top of the 10th was the Red Sox’s first hit and drove in automatic runner Jackie Bradley Jr. Christian Vazquez drove in Dalbec with a sacrifice fly.
There were just five hits in the game, three by the Rays and two by the Red Sox.
Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez (groin) sat out a third straight game but did take batting practice and is questionable for Sunday. Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz is day-to-day after being placed on the COVID-19 injured list prior to Saturday’s game.
