When the Octagon returns to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for UFC 240, Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar will fight in the main event. The two have been scheduled to fight two times prior but the fights have not happened due to injuries.

Now, after Edgar did the UFC a favor when he stayed on UFC 222 and took on Brian Ortega, but got knocked out, the Las Vegas-based promotion will give him back the title shot he lost.

Who’s the Best Bet?

There is a clear answer here on who the best bet is, and the oddsmakers agree. Max Holloway, the current featherweight champion should win this fight. He is the better fighter and has run through the entire featherweight division beating the likes of Jose Aldo, twice, Brian Ortega, Anthony Pettis, and countless others.

But, something that worries me is the fact that the Hawaiian is returning so soon from his loss to Dustin Poirier at lightweight.

There, Holloway was beaten up pretty badly and rocked on numerous occasions. And, given the fact that he has had weight cut issues at featherweight before, that could come into play here.

However, given Edgar last fought back in April of 2018 where he beat a now unranked Cub Swanson and was knocked out to Ortega before that, I think Holloway should win this fight. The champ has the better striking, and better cardio while his takedown defense is solid that I don’t expect this fight to go to the ground, and if it does, Holloway will be up quickly.

Will the Lines Move?

I think the lines will indeed move, and it will only go in favor of Holloway and make him more of a favorite. I could see him being a -500 favorite come fight night, as I truly think this will be one of Holloway’s easier title defenses to date.

Pick: Max Holloway (-400)
