These two legendary fighters are bound to show some ring rust. That’s inevitable after layoffs of these lengths.
With Rousey’s grappling advantage, she’s the rightful favorite in this bout. The Riverside County native is 12-2 in her MMA career, and has left the first round only once. But her best UFC run was built around clinch entries, judo throws, and armbar transitions. If Carana can survive the early onslaught and keep the fight standing, she should cruise into the second round.
That’s what makes this price interesting. The market is depending on a fast Rousey finish that may not be in the cards. Yet, we’re getting a plus-money price at OVER just 1.5 rounds.
Ronda’s vintage path is quick. close the distance, find a grip, judo throw, submit. But, this version of Rousey is 39 years old, coming off almost a decade away from the cage and fighting at 145 pounds. She hasn’t finished a fight since 2015, and was destroyed in back-to-back losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes that effectively ended her career. Remember, Rousey was never a striking connoisseur, and Carano is capable of delivering early shots to keep Rousey off balance.
Carano is older and has been inactive herself, but she’s also a naturally bigger, physically stronger fighter, and will be unlikely to crash into the clinch in the opening minute of this bout.
With most books hanging the total around 1.5 rounds, I like the value.

This is the longshot I want a piece of.
Most sportsbooks have built the market around Rousay winning quickly or Carana getting overwhelmed early. That makes sense, but it is likely too aggressive for this circumstance. Both fighters have been out of the ring for too long for us to assume they cleanly execute from the opening bell.
Rousey by decision is a pure price play. The five-round format really helps us, as the longer this fight goes, the less likely a finish becomes. Rousey can clearly win the grappling exchanges, but if she’s not able to win as she has in years, this can turn into a control-heavy fight. She can win rounds with clinch pressure, top position and positional dominance without finding the old armbar.
Carano’s durability and size also matter here. Even if she is not winning rounds, she can survive enough early minutes and extend this fight with veteran savvy.
Rousey by decision also fits nicely with our OVER 1.5 rounds play. The same handicapping method supports both plays. In this Rousey vs Carano matchup, we have ring rust, slower timing, and a fight that may look more awkward and far less explosive than people think.
