Nate Diaz returned to the Octagon at UFC 241 and didn’t miss a beat as he took on Anthony Pettis and dominated the fight, winning by unanimous decision.

After the fight, he took the time to call out Jorge Masvidal and said this:

”Jorge Masvidal had a good last fight, all respect to the man,” Diaz said after the fight. “There ain’t no gangsters in this game any more. There ain’t nobody that got it right but me and him. So I know he’s a gangster, but he’s no west coast gangster.”

Immediately, Masvidal, in the crowd, smiled in acknowledgement and now books have released odds for the potential fight.

Will this fight happen?

All signs point to this fight eventually happening, as Dana White lobbied for it after UFC 241.

“I mean, who wouldn’t want to see that fight?” White said. “I think everyone would want to see that fight. I don’t know, we’ll wait to see how everything plays out.”

Masvidal, meanwhile, also said he wants the fight to get scheduled sooner rather than later.

“In a heartbeat, we’re signing. I’ve been chasing the belt for 16 years, but that’s such a fight for me, for the fans, for the sport, and it’s two Latin dogs just going at it,” he said. “We haven’t seen that in the sport too much.”

It seems very likely this fight will happen either late this year or early 2020.

Will the odds change?

To no surprise, it is a pick’em fight between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal. It would no doubt be an interesting fight as everyone knows, styles make fights and their styles are very similar.

Before the odds came out, I figured it would be a pick’em between the two fan favorites, but I think the odds may change slightly and could even flip to Diaz becoming the -115 favorite, while Masvidal’s take the slight hit to -105.

Diaz has a ton of fans which make him a usual public favorite, which is why I think the odds may change slightly, so if you believe Diaz will win, now may be the time to lay some money on him.

Pick: Nate Diaz (-105)
