Usman vs Covington UFC 268 Betting Preview

Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington are two bitter rivals, and their fight in December of 2019 was one of the best fights of the year and in recent memory. The two wrestlers just stood and traded until Usman eventually got the fifth-round TKO, however, the stoppage seemed early to many, so they will now be running it back. The rematch heavily favors Usman is to beat Covington for the second time in the UFC 268 odds.

Usman vs Covington Recent Fights

Usman
VS
Covington
Jorge Masvidal, win by KO (title fight) Fight 1 Tyron Woodley, win by TKO
Gilbert Burns, win by TKO (title fight) Fight 2 Kamaru Usman, loss by TKO (title fight)
Jorge Masvidal, win by decision (title fight) Fight 3 Robbie Lawler, win by decision
Colby Covington, win by TKO (title fight) Fight 4 Rafael dos Anjos, win by decision (interim title fight)

Usman and Covington are both known for their wrestling and pressure as both men like to come forward and use their cardio to an advantage. However, against one another, as we saw in the first fight, the wrestling nullified each other, so it became a standup fight, which was back-and-forth.

Since the first fight, both men have switched training camps, and Usman’s striking has improved so much while Covington only fought once, so it’s hard to know how many improvements he has made.

Usman vs Covington Stats

76″ Reach 72″

The first fight was a standup fight, and I do think you will see that happen here but I do think both men will at least try for a takedown this time around to really see who is the better wrestler. However, on the feet, Usman’s striking has gotten so much better under Trevor Wittman, and he has the power to finish this fight as well. I expect it to be a close fight but in the fourth or fifth, Usman once again finds the KO punch to defend his belt.

At -320 in the Usman vs Covington odds, it is hard to play straight, but in my opinion, Usman is a solid parlay piece. You can also bet him to win inside the distance, or just the fight doesn’t go the distance at DraftKings. In the UFC 268 odds, the total rounds prop is set at 3.5 with the juice on the over at -140.

Pick: Kamaru Usman (-320)

Namajunas vs Zhang UFC 268 Odds & Pick

Rose Namajunas and Weili Zhang fought back at UFC 261 in April where Zhang was the champion but suffered a quick 78-second head kick KO loss.

Namajunas vs Zhang Recent Fights

Namajunas
VS
Zhang
Weili Zhang, win by KO (title fight) Fight 1 Rose Namajunas, loss by KO (title fight)
Jessica Andrade, win by split decision Fight 2 Joanna Jedrzejczyk, win by split decision (title fight)
Jessica Andrade, loss by KO (title fight) Fight 3 Jessica Andrade, win by TKO (title fight)
Joanna Jedrzejczyk, win by decision (title fight) Fight 4 Tecia Torres, win by decision

The first fight really didn’t get to play out all the much, but since the first fight happened, Zhang changed her training camp and is now working with Henry Cejudo in Arizona. It’s clear the game plan is to wrestle this time around, but Namajunas’ takedown defense is too good.

On the feet, Namajunas is the more technical striker and will be able to piece up Zhang to likely earn a decision or a late TKO. Namajunas should be around a -160 favorite in the UFC 268 odds, so to get her at -110 is a play for me.

Pick: Rose Namajunas (-110)

Other UFC 268 Odds & Picks:

  1. Justin Gaethje (-210): Gaethje is a better wrestler and striker than Chandler. He will be able to find the chin and get the KO. Gatehje by KO/TKO has the best value in the UFC 268 odds, or you can parlay him with Usman.
  2. Shane Burgos (-200): Burgos will be able to keep this fight standing and piece up Quarantillo on the feet to win a clear-cut decision. -200 is a bit too high for my liking to play straight up.
  3. Frankie Edgar (+145): Edgar should be able to use his wrestling to control Vera on the ground and pick up a big decision win at MSG for the New Jersey native.
