Gane vs Tuivasa Odds, Prediction & Best Bet

Gane remains the top-ranked contender in the UFC heavyweight rankings despite coming up short in his recent clash with reigning champion Francis Ngannou in his last outing at UFC 270.

Tuivasa has rediscovered his devastating punching power during a five-fight win streak that has vaulted him to No. 3 in the UFC heavyweight rankings.

Gane’s recent heartbreaking loss to  Ngannou marked the first defeat of his pro MMA career. The 31-year-old Frenchman used his impressive 80-inch reach to outstrike the champion by a wide 63-43 margin in their UFC 270 matchup. Indeed, he enjoyed a clear edge early on in the contest until Ngannou took control with four takedowns and over eight minutes of control time.

“Bon Gamin’s” clash with Ngannou marked the first time he has been taken down in eight UFC fights, and put an end to a seven-win fight streak that was the second-longest in UFC heavyweight history.

Gane has earned a much deserved reputation as a power puncher, and averages 4.83 significant strikes per minute. But despite his struggles on the mat against Ngannou, Bon Gamin is also a formidable grappler, with three wins by submission to his credit.

It was less than three years ago that Tai Tuivasa was fighting to maintain his place in the UFC. The 29-year-old Australian looked to be on his way out after suffering three straight losses. However, that adversity looks to have served him well. Since that slide, “Bam Bam” has been unstoppable, tallying five straight victories, including a trio of first-round knockouts.

Tuivasa has claimed Performance of the Night bonuses in each of his past three outings. In addition, he has knocked out opponents in 13 of his 14 career wins, and ranks eighth all-time among UFC heavyweights with an average of 1.47 knockdowns per 15 minutes.

Bam Bam is not a takedown threat, but compiled over two minutes of control time before ending his recent clash with Derrick Lewis with a second-round TKO on punches.

Pick: Gane by finish (-150)

Whittaker vs Vettori Odds and Pick

Robert Whittaker heads back to the drawing board after failing to regain the UFC middleweight title in his recent rematch with Israel Adesanya at UFC 271. With the exception of two losses to the Last Stylebender, Whittaker has been a force in the 185-pound division, claiming victory in all of the other 10 bouts he has fought as a middleweight, including seven victories by decision.

Despite a lengthy track record of fights going the distance, Whittaker’s punching prowess should not be underestimated. “The Reaper” ranks third all-time among UFC middleweights with 884 significant strikes landed, and has recorded knockdown in two of his past four fights.

Whittaker vs Vettori Recent Fights

Israel Adesanya (loss – unanimous decision) Fight 1 Paulo Costa (win – unanimous decision)
Kelvin Gastelum (win – unanimous decision) Fight 2 Israel Adesanya (loss – unanimous decision)
Jared Cannonier (win – unanimous decision) Fight 3 Kevin Holland (win – unanimous decision)
Darren Till (win – unanimous decision) Fight 4 Jack Hermansson (win – unanimous decision)
Israel Adesanya (loss – KO) Fight 5 Karl Roberson (win – submission)

Marvin Vettori followed up his failed bid for the UFC middleweight strap by outlasting Paulo Costa to claim a five-round unanimous decision in his light heavyweight debut at UFC vegas 41. Overall, the “Italian Dream” has earned the win in six of his past seven outings, with five of those victories coming by unanimous decision.

While Vettori’s recent date with Costa will be best remembered as a slugfest, it is important to not overlook Vettori’s effectiveness on the mat. While he went just 1-for-5 on takedown attempts, he dominated when the action went to the mat, and has nine submission wins to his credit.

Pick: Whittaker by decision (-115)

Other UFC Fight Night Paris Picks

  • Ailin Perez (+250): A winner of two straight, both by knockout, Perez will make her UFC debut in Paris against last-minute replacement Stephanie Eggar, who is coming off a first-round submission loss just three weeks ago.
  • Nathaniel Wood (+116): Wood impressed while claiming a unanimous decision win over Charles Rosa in his featherweight debut at UFC London.
  • Dustin Stoltzfus (+205): Stoltzfus agreed to this fight on short notice, but will face Abus Magomedov, who will be competing for the first time in almost two years.
