Font vs Aldo UFC Betting Outlook & Pick

With the title picture at bantamweight murky, top-five bantamweights in Rob Font and Jose Aldo will fight to possibly determine the next contender after Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan have their rematch. However, TJ Dillashaw is out there, so the stakes of this fight are uncertain.

Font vs Aldo Recent Fights

Font
VS
Aldo
Cody Garbrandt, win by decision Fight 1 Pedro Munhoz, win by decision
Marlon Moraes, win by TKO Fight 2 Marlon Vera, win by decision
Ricky Simon, win by decision Fight 3 Petr Yan, loss by TKO (title fight)
Sergio Pettis, win by decision Fight 4 Marlon Moraes, loss by split decision

Aldo is 2-2 at bantamweight but many believe he beat Moraes in his debut, which allowed him to get the title shot. He has been impressive in his past two wins but gets a tough test in Font who is one of the best strikers in the division. Font outstruck Cody Garbrandt and dominated him over five rounds back in May.

Font vs Aldo Stats

Font

Aldo

5’8″ Height 5’7″
71.5″ Reach 70″
6 UFC Finishes 4

Aldo is the longtime featherweight king and was known for his devastating leg kicks and punches, but for years he stopped using the leg kicks but has recently brought them back. His kicks are a dangerous weapon along with his body punches which we have seen hurt several opponents and even finish some.

Early on in the fight, I do expect Aldo to have success as he usually does. He should be able to land the leg kicks and body shots and piece up Font. Yet, as the second and third-round play out, Font should be able to start finding his jab. Aldo will start to tire out as we have seen, and Font will eventually get the TKO win.

At -148 in the UFC Vegas 44 odds, the moneyline is a solid bet as I think Font could be higher. Yet, if you want even more bang for your buck, Font inside the distance is another way to play this fight.

Pick: Rob Font (-148)

Riddell vs Fiziev UFC Betting Odds & Pick

Brad Riddell used to be the striking coach at Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand, and one of his students was Rafael Fiziev as the two became good friends. Fiziev’s manager even said the two would never fight each other unless it was for the belt, but something obviously changed.

Riddell & Fiziev Recent Fights

Riddell
VS
Fiziev
Drew Dober, win by decision Fight 1 Bobby Green, win by decision
Alex da Silva, win by decision Fight 2 Renato Moicano, win by TKO
Magomed Mustafaev, win by split decision Fight 3 Marc Diakese, win by decision
Jamie Mullarkey, win by decision Fight 4 Alex White, win by decision

This should be a phenomenal fight as both Riddell and Fiziev are phenomenal strikers, and it should be a kickboxing fight. What is kind of interesting is the fact they are both 10-1, and Fiziev’s lone loss was a KO loss to Mustafaev, who, of course, Riddell beat.

This should be a back-and-forth fight as both men will land heavy shots. Yet, in Fiziev’s last fight, he started to gas out in the third round, which is a major concern. With that, I expect Riddell to be able to outpace Fiziev to win the second and third rounds to win a decision in what could be the Fight of the Night.

Pick: Brad Riddell (-104)

Other UFC Vegas 44 Picks:

  1. Leonardo Santos (-190): Santos is the better grappler and has underrated striking, yet a submission win on a bad Guida shot is a very likely scenario here.
  2. Jimmy Crute (-180): I expect Crute to go out and clinch and wrestle Hill to slow him down and tire him out to then pick him apart and win a decision.
  3. Brendan Allen (-265): Allen should be able to takedown Curtis and get a ground and pound TKO win. Yet, the odds are too high for my liking to play straight.
