In less than two weeks, Conor McGregor will make the walk to the Octagon again.

In the main event of UFC 257 on January 23, 2021, McGregor and Poirier are set to have their rematch, where the winner is likely to earn a title fight.

It is a very crucial fight for both men’s careers. UFC president Dana White revealed that McGregor is very motivated right now.

Well, pictures have been released of McGregor. There is no question he is focused on the fight as he is in tremendous shape and the odds have changed because of it.

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 2 Updated Odds

Fighter Opening Odds Oct. 15 Current Odds
Conor McGregor -184 -278
Dustin Poirier +154 +225

Odds taken Jan. 12 at DraftKings

Is There Value on McGregor?

I think -278 is way too high on Conor McGregor, but it is understandable as to why the odds are the way they are.

First off, The Sun released photos of what McGregor looked like against Nate Diaz in 2016 and what he looks like now.  There is no question the Irishman is in shape.

Conor McGregor's five-years transformation

In terms of odds, unfortunately, if you are a McGregor backer you missed the favorable line. As of right now, -278 is too high for my liking, so you will likely need to find a prop or another unique way to bet the fight.

Will McGregor’s Odds Continue to Rise?

Conor McGregor is a fan-favorite. He always sees a ton of action, regardless of who he is fighting, as evidence by the Floyd Mayweather and Khabib Nurmagomedov fights.

There is no question McGregor will get a lot of public action on the day of the event from casual bettors who will be tuning in. However, I do expect sharp money to come in on Dustin Poirier at this price.

Poirier is an elite fighter and has multiple paths to victory against the Irishman. Moreover, if we see “The Diamond” become a +250 underdog, I’d expect money to come in on him to lower the odds.

Who Has Value?

There is no question all the value is on Dustin Poirier. At these current odds on DraftKings, they believe McGregor has roughly a 75 percent chance of winning, compared to Poirier only being given a 31 percent chance, which is not how I see this fight.

I do like McGregor to win the bout, however, I think the Irishman should only be favored at around -160 odds. That being said, if McGregor can’t knock Poirier out, he might be in trouble. We have seen the Irishman have problems with his cardio, and in the later rounds, Poirier could finish him as he did to Justin Gaethje.
