Odds as of April 1st at FanDuel

Wiggins Builds on Strong March

Andrew Wiggins had a great March. He capped it off with three consecutive games scoring 21 or more.

While the Warriors’ record wasn’t great while Steph Curry was injured, there were good signs from Wiggins, who shot over 54% from three last month.

Obviously, Curry’s availability for Thursday’s game will change Wiggins’ role. Wiggins’ usage rate is just 21% with Curry on the court, compared to 29.3% when Curry isn’t on.

His true shooting percentage plummets without Curry, though, going from just under 60% to under 54%.

The quality of looks Wiggins gets with Curry on the floor is much higher, and he’s not forced to do it all himself. He can operate as a catch-and-shoot threat and attack closeouts.

His shot totals drop with Curry on the floor, of course, but that isn’t a barrier to Wiggins putting up numbers. He still gets over 14 shots up per 36 minutes with Curry on the floor, and assuming Curry plays on Thursday night, the former Minnesota wing will have a few minutes on the floor without the two-time MVP.

Wiggins averaged 23.9 points per game in March. Even in minutes with Curry, he’s at 19 points per 36.

The 24.5 points, rebounds and assists line seems very low. Wiggins averaged 5.4 boards and 2.5 dimes in March. He could get this total in points.

  • Pick: Andrew Wiggins over 24.5 points, rebounds and assists (-122)

Murray Gets It Going

The Clippers are well aware of what Jamal Murray is capable of. After an up-and-down start to the year, the Nuggets guard has hit his stride of late.

He’s scored 24 points per game over his last seven, including 50% from three. Murray not only has happy memories against the Clippers, he also gets the benefit of facing them without their two best options to guard him. Patrick Beverley (knee) and Paul George (foot) are both out.

In a tiny sample, the Nuggets are flattening opponents when Murray, Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr are on the floor. As a threat both on-and-off ball, Murray has thrived since Gordon’s arrival, and dropped 30 on the Sixers last time out. That performance included a career-high 16 points in the first quarter. The Sixers got a taste of the red-hot Murray we saw in the playoffs last season.

The Clippers saw a solid winning run come to an end with a shock loss to the Magic. This is a game where they will really miss George, Beverley and Serge Ibaka.

Denver’s offensive rating is just under 120 over the last four games. Missing their key defensive personnel, the Clippers are going to struggle to stop them. This could be another big night for Murray.

  • Pick: Jamal Murray over 20.5 points (-118)
