To round out the 2021-22 NBA regular season, two playoff teams will battle in an inter-conference showdown on Sunday, April 10th when the Boston Celtics travel to face the Memphis Grizzlies at 7pm ET on TNT from FedExForum in Memphis.
The Celtics come in at 50-31 on the year and are 7-3 in the last 10 games to sit tied for third place in the East. Boston is coming off of a 127-121 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday in Milwaukee.
The Grizzlies enter the game 56-25 overall and are 8-2 over the last 10 games, having wrapped up the second seed in the West standings. Memphis completed the first game of a back-to-back on Saturday, blowing out the New Orleans Pelicans 141-114 Memphis.

Celtics Still Battling for Positioning
Boston is already in the playoff portion of the postseason while bypassing the play-in tournament as a top-six seed, but the Celtics are still fighting for seeding on the final day of the regular season. Going into Sunday, Boston is tied with the Philadelphia 76ers for the third seed in the conference and just one game back of the second seed Milwaukee.
With playoff positioning still up for grabs, the Celtics could start most if not all of their regulars in the regular-season finale on the road — at least those who are healthy enough to take the court. Boston is dealing with some injury issues as the regular season comes to a close, with Al Horford (back), Nik Stauskas (ankle) and Jayson Tatum (knee) all held out of Thursday’s game. Robert Williams also remains out for the Celtics, having been sidelined since March 27 with a meniscus tear in his left knee.
A banged-up roster means Boston will continue to rely on its top-notch defense while going up against a talented Memphis offense. The Celtics, led by Marcus Smart who has made a case to be Defensive Player of the Year, lead the NBA in both defensive rating and points allowed this season. On the other side, the Grizzlies rank fifth in the league in offensive rating and are third in points per game.

Grizzlies Could Sit Players While Wrapping Up Back-to-Back
Memphis has been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the last month-plus, making the Grizzlies a dangerous team when the playoffs finally tip off. Since the All-Star break, Memphis holds a record of 15-6 and are 13-4 over the last 17 contests.
With the fourth-youngest roster in the NBA, the Grizzlies have surprised some with a stellar regular season and look to be getting healthy at just the right time as the postseason approaches. A big development in Saturday’s win over New Orleans was Memphis getting star guard Ja Morant back on the court for the first time since March 18 with a knee injury. Even without Morant in the lineup, the Grizzlies have been dominant while having lost just two of the games he missed since the middle of March.

Sunday’s game marks the second night of a back-to-back for Memphis, which holds a 7-6 on the back and of back-to-back’s this year. With some players still getting fully healthy and the Grizzlies already wrapping up the second seed, we could see some players sit out and rest to prepare for the playoffs. If that does happen, that would certainly impact Memphis’ ability to come out on top at home to finish the year.
Prediction and Best Bet
Sunday’s game features teams in two different mindsets on the final day of the regular season. Boston is looking to improve its playoff seeding while Memphis is looking to just get fully healthy and rested ahead of the postseason.
If the Celtics are able to get some of their banged up players back for the game, they should be able to take this game on the road to try and secure their spot in the postseason picture. Since the Grizzlies don’t have much to play for, Boston will likely come out with more of a sense of urgency to win the game and it should be able to do just that.
For the best bet of the night, go with the Celtics covering the 1.5-point spread listed ahead of the game. Boston should come away with the road victory, covering that spread and winning by more than 1.5 points along the way.
