Two teams in the playoff race in the West will take the court on Wednesday, March 24th when the Los Angeles Clippers take a quick two-game road trip to San Antonio to face the Spurs, tip-off 8:30pm ET.
LA is just 5-5 in their last 10 games but a two-game unbeaten streak is a positive sign for Kawhi Leonard and co, as they currently sit in fourth spot in the Western Conference. San Antonio, meanwhile, has been a breath of fresh air this year and are well in postseason contention with a 22-18 record.
The Spurs have already beaten the Clippers in a slim 116-113 win at the Staples Center on January 5th.

Clippers Looking to Get on a Roll
Los Angeles has gone 4-2 since the All-Star break and after two consecutive victories, the Clips have an opportunity ahead to try and lock down the third seed and potentially even catch the surging Phoenix Suns.

With LeBron and AD both out for the Lakers, Tyronn Lue’s team can leave their LA counterparts in the dust if they continue to play good basketball. There are some tough matchups ahead, with the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks on the schedule in the next week. Therefore, a couple of wins here against the Spurs would be crucial to get some momentum.
Monday night was a gritty victory for Los Angeles, but it showed real character. They were down by 22 at one point to the Hawks who were on an eight-game winning streak.
By surprise, it wasn’t actually Leonard or Paul George who inspired the comeback in the second half. Lue put all reserves on the floor out of sheer frustration and they came through big, with Terance Mann dropping 21 and Luke Kennard adding 20 points. The two Clippers’ role players led the squad to a 53-22 run in the final two periods.
Mann collected 11 points in the fourth alone and hit a couple of key threes down the stretch in the comeback. Kawhi also hit an important shot from downtown with just over a minute left in regulation that kept LA ahead for good.
Is DeMar DeRozan Staying Put?
Although San Antonio is contending for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, the latest talks around the organization are regarding DeMar DeRozan. He’s reportedly available via trade ahead of Thursday’s deadline, which could really throw things awry for the Spurs if he departs.

LaMarcus Aldridge has already agreed to part ways with San Antonio, but losing DeRozan as well would be a huge blow to a team that’s shown such promise this season. He’s currently their leading scorer with 20.6 points per night and put up another 28 on Monday in a loss to Charlotte.
At this point though, the Spurs just need to keep playing hard-nosed basketball. They’re one of the best defensive teams in the league, allowing just 110.1 points per game. The development of youngsters like Dejounte Murray, Lonnie Walker IV, and Derrick White has also been crucial to their success this year.
Murray is posting career-highs across the board with 15.6 points, seven boards, and 5.1 assists per contest. If DeRozan does in fact move on, the franchise keys will likely be handed to the former University of Washington standout and he’s clearly looking up to the task.
No team in the league registers just 11 turnovers per game as well. They might not be the most electrifying offensively, but San Antonio has been doing the little things right all year long.
Clippers-Spurs Pick
The Clippers are 21-17 as the ATS favorites this season and have a 13-10 record on the road. The Spurs, on the other hand, are 14-8 as ATS underdogs but are only 10-11 at the AT&T Center.
You’re looking at two teams who allow 110 points or lower per contest, which means this should be a relatively low-scoring affair, even with the offensive prowess on LA. Therefore, the under is a safe bet here.
I’m also going with San Antonio to break out of their losing streak and collect a victory.
