Hawks 3-0 ATS to Start Season, Getting 8 Points on the Road at Miami
- The Atlanta Hawks are getting eight points as road underdogs in Tuesday’s game against the Miami Heat
- Atlanta is 2-1 straight up and 3-0 against the spread to start the NBA season
- Hawks second-year point guard Trae Young is averaging 34 points per game
The Atlanta Hawks are rolling into Miami, and Trae Young is on fire.
If the NBA has taught us anything over the years, it’s that one spectacular player can carry a team to great heights.
Three games into the season, the Hawks second-year point guard is suggesting he just might just do that for them this year.
Out of the playoffs the past two seasons and winners of just 29 games last season, the Hawks are 2-1 as they prepare to face the Heat on Tuesday. They are tied with Miami for top spot in the Southeast Division, and also in a logjam of teams deadlocked for third in the Eastern Conference.
More importantly from a betting standpoint, the Hawks own an unblemished 3-0 record against the spread, and Atlanta is offering plenty of points to play with in order to keep that unbeaten run alive.
The sportsbook has established the Heat as eight-point favorites in Tuesday’s game in the Hawks vs Heat odds.
Atlanta Hawks vs Miami Heat Odds

Atlanta was 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS when facing Miami last season.
Hawks Forever Young
Young was a solid rookie performer, delivering 19 points and eight assists per game. He joined Oscar Robertson and Damon Stoudamire as the only first-year players in NBA history to average both of those numbers.
Yet compared to this season, those digits seem so pedestrian.

Young scored 38 points in the season-opening win against the Detroit Pistons. He upped it to 39 points as the Hawks beat the Orlando Magic. The Philadelphia 76ers held Young to only 25 points on Monday as they handed the Hawks their first on-court setback of the season.
He’s averaging 34 points in 36 minutes per game of floor time. Young is also averaging nine assists per game. He’s shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 52 percent from beyond the arc.
If Young keeps up that kind of pace, Atlanta has a chance in every game.
Spreading It Out
Atlanta opened the season winning 117-100 at Detroit as 1.5-point underdogs to the Pistons. They were a 2.5-point home underdog facing the Magic in the home opener and won outright 103-99. Even though the Sixers edged the Hawks 115-113, Atlanta was getting 6.5 points.
Miami gives the Hawks their biggest spread of the season. During the 2018-19 campaign, Atlanta was an underdog of eight or more points in 32 of 82 regular-season games.
The Hawks went 18-14 ATS in those games.
Miami vs Atlanta Trends
Tuesday will be the second game in as many nights for Atlanta. The Hawks’ only SU loss to the Heat last season came in the second game of a back-to-back. Miami won 114-113 on March 4, but the Hawks covered as 10-point underdogs.
Overall last season, Atlanta was 5-6 SU and 4-7 ATS in the second game of a back-to-back scenario.
The Hawks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against the Heat. Yet at the same time, the Heat are 4-1 SU in their last five home games against the Hawks.
Trae Young (25 points tonight) is the first Hawks player to begin the season with three straight games of 25-or-more points since Joe Johnson began 2006-07 with seven consecutive.

Atlanta is also 10-2 ATS in its last 12 road games. The Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall games.
Miami is a solid 2-0-1 ATS to start the 2019-20 season. But the Heat are a disappointing 2-9 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games.
Jimmy Butler, who missed the first three games due to the birth of his daughter, will make his Heat debut.
Pick: Atlanta Hawks +8 (-110).
