- The Knicks are 1.5-point favorites over the Hawks in Game 3 of their 1st Round series
- 7 of New York’s last 8 road games have fallen under the total

The Knicks and Hawks resume their 1st Round Eastern Conference series tonight in Atlanta, with New York listed as short road favorites in the latest NBA odds. The two teams split Games 1 and 2 at MSG, but I’m banking on the Knicks taking back control of the series tonight.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm ET from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA, with Amazon Prime Video streaming coverage across America, and TSN handling Canadian TV duties.
Here are my top Knicks vs Hawks picks and predictions, along with the injury reports for Game 3.
Knicks vs Hawks Picks & Predictions
- New York Knicks -1.5 (-115 at Bet365)
- Under 215.5 (-110 at BetMGM)
- Jalen Brunson Over 26.5 Points (-107 at Bet365)
My top bet tonight is New York -1.5. The numbers suggest the Knicks are incredibly resilient when coming off a disappointing result. They’re a highly profitable 9-3 straight up after a loss over their last 12 games. New York has done an excellent job of containing the Hawks primary scorers outside of CJ McCollum, while they hold sizeable advantages through two games in many key categories.
The Knicks boast a significantly better offensive and defensive rating than their opponent, while dominating on the glass. Turnovers and missed free throws ultimately sunk them in Game 2, but I expect they’ll clean that up tonight. New York has an immense advantage inside, and should be able to bully their way to another victory.
Moving over to the total, where the over has cashed in just 1 of New York’s last 4 games after a loss, and in just 1 of their last 8 road games as small favorites or underdogs. Both teams operate at an identical, middle-of-the-pack pace (96.1 possessions per 48 minutes). A slower half court offense naturally depresses scoring, and combined with New York’s elite defensive rating, this game script screams that points will be tough to come by. Bet the under.
Jalen Brunson Game 1 and 2 Stats
As for my top NBA pops bet, look no further than over 26.5 points for Jalen Brunson. With New York needing a crucial road win, expect their primary ball-handler to eat up massive usage. Brunson is averaging a blistering 28.5 points per game in this series, and his ability to initiate the offense and draw contact will be the driving force behind New York’s bounce-back effort.

SPORTSBOOK
Shifting gears to the NBA public betting splits, where we see a fascinating market dynamic. While Atlanta commands 46.8% of spread tickets, they hold only 37.8% of the cash. The moneyline tells an even wilder story: New York is taking 56.6% of tickets, but a staggering 83.9% of the total cash stake. The public is hopelessly in love with the over, stacking 86.2% of the tickets and 84.6% of the money on a high-scoring outcome, which creates an incredible contrarian angle for my total wager.
Knicks vs Hawks Injury Report
Health is the ultimate wildcard in the playoffs, and New York enters Game 3 with a pristine injury report. Having their full rotation intact is a massive luxury for a squad boasting a top-tier playoff defense. Atlanta however, will once again be without backup center Jock Landale. While he’s a reserve, he does account for 6 boards per game and his absence means Atlanta’s rebounding depth will suffer against the best rebounding team in the postseason.
