Thursday’s NBA trade deadline was the busiest in league history. An All-Star swapped Orlando for Chicago, a former All-NBA wing finally got to Miami, and last year’s Western Conference finalists addressed their greatest need.

With a packed NBA schedule on Friday, there’s set to be debuts across the NBA.

Suns vs Raptors

The Toronto Raptors were at the center of the trade deadline’s biggest story. Kyle Lowry, despite hundreds of rumors to the contrary, remained a Raptor. Norm Powell did not.

Powell was traded to the Blazers on the west coast in return for Gary Trent Jr and Rodney Hood.

Chris Paul Kyle Lowry
Devin Booker Fred VanVleet
Mikal Bridges Gary Trent Jr
Jae Crowder Pascal Siakam
Deandre Ayton OG Anunoby

Toronto is four-point underdogs for this game. Phoenix has all of their key players available, with Abdel Nader (knee) the only absentee. The Raps are without Patrick McCaw (knee), and could give Trent his 24th start of the season in place of Norm Powell.

Celtics vs Bucks

The Celtics made their first midseason trade in several seasons. Evan Fournier slotted into their record-breaking trade exception on Thursday, providing depth on the wing. Boston missed out on Aaron Gordon, however, and shipped Daniel Theis to the Chicago Bulls just before the deadline.

Milwaukee made their big move before the trade deadline chaos, landing P.J. Tucker from the Houston Rockets.

Kemba Walker Jrue Holiday
Marcus Smart Donte DiVincenzo
Jaylen Brown Khris Middleton
Jayson Tatum Giannis Antetokounmpo
Robert Williams Brook Lopez

Boston lost by two points to the Bucks a couple of nights ago. Milwaukee is favored by 5.5 at FanDuel for this matchup with the Celtics forced into a change to their starting line-up.

With Theis no longer on the team, Robert Williams is expected to step up and fill the starting center void. Williams is averaging career-highs across the board, but it will be interesting to see if Tristan Thompson (health and safety protocols) gets the start upon his return. Fournier is expected to come off the bench as he makes his C’s debut.

Heat vs Hornets

In the Kyle Lowry sweepstakes until the final minutes, Miami pivoted just before the deadline to acquire Victor Oladipo from the Houston Rockets. The Heat also picked up Nemanja Bjelica from the Kings.

Charlotte responded to LaMelo Ball’s injury by trading for Brad Wanamaker from the Warriors. Wanamaker will get occasional minutes off the bench to backup Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham.

Heat vs Hornets Projected Starting Lineups

Heat Hornets
Gabe Vincent Terry Rozier
Kendrick Nunn Devonte’ Graham
Duncan Robinson Gordon Hayward
Trevor Ariza P.J. Washington
Bam Adebayo Bismack Biyombo

Charlotte is narrowly favored for this one. Goran Dragic (back) is unavailable for Erik Spoelstra, and Victor Oladipo isn’t going to be ready in time. Jimmy Butler (illness) is also expected to sit this one out.

The Hornets are without rookie sensation LaMelo Ball (wrist), but there are no other injury concerns. Miami could use the same starting lineup which lost to Portland on Thursday.

Blazers vs Magic

Portland made one of the surprise deals of deadline day when they landed Norm Powell from Toronto. Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood were sent to the Raptors.

The Magic were the epicenter of Thursday’s mayhem. Their decision to rebuild opened up the market as they sent Nikola Vucevic to Chicago, Aaron Gordon to Denver and Evan Fournier to Boston. Al-Farouq Aminu and Gary Clark also departed. Gary Harris arrived from the Nuggets along with RJ Hampton. Wendell Carter Jr, Otto Porter and Jeff Teague are all on the Magic, but none of them are available for this one.

Anfernee Simons Michael Carter-Williams
C.J. McCollum James Ennis
Norm Powell Dwayne Bacon
Robert Covington Chuma Okeke
Jusuf Nurkic Khem Birch

Having blown it up at the deadline, the Magic are incredibly short on players for this game. Porter, Carter, Hampton and Teague are all out. Terrence Ross (knee) remains unavailable. Markelle Fultz, Jonathan Isaac and Cole Anthony are still sidelined with long-term issues.

Damian Lillard is resting some minor injuries on Friday night, but Jusuf Nurkic returns for Portland. The Blazers’ starting center is on a minutes restriction, though he could still start ahead of Enes Kanter. It’s unclear whether Norm Powell is available. If he is, he’ll likely get the start with Portland short on wing depth.

Even without Lillard, Portland is favored by nine points.

Nuggets vs Pelicans

Denver got deadline day rolling with a trade to acquire JaVale McGee. That was just the start for the Nuggets, however, as they later made a deal for Aaron Gordon, sending RJ Hampton, Gary Harris and a protected first to the Magic.

The Pelicans had a quieter Thursday. A Lonzo Ball trade never came to fruition. New Orleans let Nicolo Melli and JJ Redick go to Dallas and received Wes Iwundu and James Johnson.

Jamal Murray Nickeil Alexander-Walker
Will Barton Eric Bledsoe
Michael Porter Jr Brandon Ingram
Aaron Gordon Zion Williamson
Nikola Jokic Steven Adams

It’s uncertain if Aaron Gordon will make his Nuggets debut on Friday as the trade still has to clear medicals. The same goes for Gary Clark, James Johnson and Iwundu. Backup point guard Monte Morris is out, meaning more minutes for Facu Campazzo.

Processing the trade also makes JaVale McGee a doubt, which could mean minutes at the five for JaMychal Green. Having not dressed for the game with the Lakers a few days ago, Lonzo Ball might also sit this one out.

Denver is favored by a couple of points over the Pels, who have won four of their last six.

Pacers vs Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks added three-point shooting in JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli on Thursday. Neither are expected to start in Friday’s matchup with Indiana. Dallas waved goodbye to James Johnson and Wes Iwundu in the trade, who had started a combined four games this season.

Indiana had a quiet trade deadline despite rumors involving Malcolm Brogdon earlier in the week.

Pacers vs Mavericks Projected Starting Lineups

Pacers Mavericks
Malcolm Brogdon Luka Doncic
Caris LeVert Josh Richardson
Justin Holiday Dorian Finney-Smith
Domantas Sabonis Kristaps Porzingis
Myles Turner Maxi Kleber

Dallas is favored by 1.5 points for Friday’s meeting with the Pacers. The Mavs are without Tyrell Terry and Willie Cauley-Stein, and it’s unclear if JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli will be available for their debuts. The Pacers had some bad injury news this week as T.J. Warren was ruled out for the season.
