Still perfect at home this season, the Orlando Magic (6-6, 5-0 home, 5-7 ATS) will look to make it six straight at the Kia Center to open the season when they host the Indiana Pacers (5-5, 2-4 away, 6-4 ATS) at 7:10 pm ET tonight. The Magic will be without All-Star forward Paolo Banchero (29.0 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 5.6 APG) for the eighth straight game but they are still slight home favorites in tonight’s Pacers vs Magic odds.

The Magic enter Wednesday on a three-game win streak, all at home over subpar competition. They routed a reeling Pelicans team 115-88 on Wednesday, dominated the Wizards 121-94 on Friday, and most-recently crushed the Hornets 114-89 on Sunday. Franz Wagner (20.9 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.6 APG) led the team in scoring in all three wins, and has done so in six games total.

The Pacers have won three of their last four, overall, but just one of their last four road games. They run up the score on the Knicks at home (132-121 win) last time out but were uncompetitive in their last road game at Charlotte (103-83 loss).

With Banchero out, Franz Wagner has the highest point total for the Magic (and for the game) at 25.5 O/U. Pascal Siakam (21.5 O/U) is the only player over 20 for the balanced Pacers attack, which currently has four different players averaging between 16 and 20 PPG.

Indiana center Myles Turner has the highest rebound total on the board at 8.5 O/U while point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who lead the league in assists last season (10.9 APG), has the highest assist total at 9.5 O/U, despite averaging just 8.3 in his first ten games this year.

Pacers vs Magic Predictions

It’s hard to fade the Magic at home given how well they’ve played at the Kia Center. But it’s even harder for me to back the Magic without Banchero against an offense as potent as Indiana’s. Orlando already owns a home victory over the Pacers this season (119-115) but it took a 50-burger from Banchero to do it, and the Magic needed to come back from five down at the end of the third quarter.

Eventually, Banchero’s absence is going to catch-up with the Magic, who – I can guarantee you – aren’t going 41-0 at home this season. I expect the first bit of regression to come tonight against a healthy and hungry Indiana team that so narrowly missed upsetting the Magic on this same court just a week ago.

But I also really like the over on Wagner’s point total at 25.5. Not only has he gone over 25 points in three of his last four, and seen his usage go way up with Banchero sidelined, but the Pacers were also the second-fastest-paced team in the league last season. While they’re playing a little slower so far in 2024-25, expect Indiana to be back in the top-three in pace soon enough.
