Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers get the evening’s action underway at home against Kevin Durant’s Brooklyn Nets at 10:10pm ET. Tipping off at the same time, De’Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings welcome the San Antonio Spurs.

Half an hour later, the struggling Detroit Pistons are on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers, who remain without Kawhi Leonard.

Pick #1: Josh Hart Over 11.5 Rebounds & Assists

Portland has been one of the early-season overachievers, and it is a surprise to see them as just two-point favorites over the calamitous Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn allowed 153 points to the Kings last time out, and has the worst rebounding rate in the entire NBA.

Josh Hart has proven to be a shrewd pick-up for the Blazers. He does a bit of everything, and is one of the best non-big rebounders in the league. The former Laker averages 8.6 per game this season. He is a willing and decisive passer, too, with an average of 4.4 assists. Add those together and we’re well over this line, though those assist numbers have been boosted slightly by the period when Damian Lillard was out.

Still, Hart has gone over this number in six of his last seven and 11 of 14 overall. This game will be played at a slower pace, with both teams ranking in the bottom eight in pace this season, but there will still be ample opportunity for Hart to be effective as a playmaker and rebounder. He is in the 97th percentile in defensive rebounding rate among wings, and 87th percentile on the offensive glass. Hart’s 1.6 offensive boards per game is level with Joel Embiid and slightly more than Nikola Jokic.

Given the opposition’s glaring weaknesses rebounding the ball and defending in general, Hart is a great bet at +100 here.

Pick: Josh Hart over 11.5 rebounds and assists (+100)

Pick #2: Kevin Huerter Over 14.5 Points

Sacramento is on a roll with four consecutive wins, and they face a San Antonio Spurs team trending in the wrong direction. The Kings are heavily favored for Thursday’s game as a result. Much of the Kings’ surge has been powered by an explosive offense, with shooting surrounding the playmaking of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

One of those shooters is Kevin Huerter, who has hit 52.6% of his threes this season, and passed this points line in eight of his 13 outings. San Antonio’s defense has slumped of late — they now rank 28th by defensive rating, and this looks poised to be a high-scoring affair with both teams in the top eight in pace.

The Kings excel at creating three-point shots. Fox and Sabonis are good picking out open players on the perimeter, and it has proven to be a hard offense to stop. Only three teams take a higher share of their shots from beyond the arc, and Huerter is the leader of the barrage with over seven three-point attempts per game.

While San Antonio doesn’t give up a huge number of outside shots, they have seen teams shoot a very high percentage (second-worst in the Association) on such looks. Some of this is poor fortune, but it is also a symptom of their inexperienced roster.

Huerter is averaging 16.8 points per game, and has gone over this in the last three. Against such a porous defense, this is a good price for the former Hawk to score 15 or more points.

Pick: Kevin Huerter over 14.5 points (-113)
