Sacramento Betting Analysis

The Kings have lost three of their last four games, including a disappointing 113-109 home defeat to the Chicago Bulls on Monday where they blew a 22-point second-half lead. Prior to that, Sacramento had earned an impressive 124-120 overtime road win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who currently sit atop the Western Conference standings.

De’Aaron Fox leads the Kings in scoring this season, averaging 25.2 points per game on 50.7% shooting. The speedy point guard is also dishing out 6.1 assists and grabbing 4.2 rebounds per contest.

Domantas Sabonis continues to be a double-double machine for Sacramento. The skilled big man is putting up 18.9 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game on the year. Sharpshooting guard Kevin Huerter is enjoying a career year, averaging 15.2 points while hitting 40.3% of his 7.2 three-point attempts per game.

As a team, the Kings boast the NBA’s highest-scoring offense at 118.7 points per game. They play at the league’s second-fastest pace and launch the third most threes at 40.9 attempts per contest. Defensively, Sacramento allows 116.9 points per game, ranking 25th.

LA Betting Analysis

The Lakers are coming off an impressive 116-104 home win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, who entered the week in first place in the West. That victory improved Los Angeles to 10-4 since the start of February as they make a playoff push.

LeBron James stuffed the stat sheet against OKC with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in 36 minutes. The 38-year-old superstar is having another remarkable season, averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. However, James is currently listed as questionable for this game with an ankle injury.

Anthony Davis returned on Monday after missing one game with a foot issue. He looked like his dominant self, posting 24 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks in 37 minutes. D’Angelo Russell has provided a huge boost since being acquired at the trade deadline. The dynamic point guard is averaging 18.1 points and 6.4 assists in 10 games with the Lakers while shooting a scorching 48.1% from three.

The Lakers play at the NBA’s seventh-lowest pace but are extremely efficient, ranking sixth in field goal percentage at 48.5%. They attempt the second fewest threes per game, at 30.1. Defensively, Los Angeles is tied for 17th, allowing 114.8 points per contest.

For player props, De’Aaron Fox’s over/under for points is set at 25.5. The speedy Kings guard has topped that number in three of his last four games and is averaging 26.8 points per contest on the season. With his ability to attack the basket and get to the free throw line, I like Fox to go over 25.5 points.

Another appealing prop is LeBron James over 7.5 assists, assuming he plays through his questionable tag. James has dished out eight or more dimes in four straight games and is averaging 7.9 per game on the year. His passing ability should be on full display as he looks to set up Davis, Russell and others.

Finally, consider Domantas Sabonis over 13.5 rebounds. The walking double-double is grabbing 12.4 boards per game this season and has gone over 13.5 in five of his last seven outings. He snagged 21 rebounds last game against Chicago and 23 in his last meeting with the Lakers. Sabonis’ tenacity on the glass makes this an enticing over to bet.

Kings vs Lakers Prediction

This shapes up as a fascinating clash of styles between the up-tempo Kings and the more methodical Lakers. Sacramento will look to push the pace and launch threes, while Los Angeles will try to slow it down and pound the ball inside to Davis and James.

The health of those two Lakers superstars looms large. If either sits out, it swings the advantage heavily in the Kings’ favor. But if both play, the Lakers’ size, strength, and home-court edge could be the difference.

Key Betting Trends:

  • The Kings are 6-1 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Lakers.
  • The Kings are 11-7 ATS as a road underdog this season.

Ultimately, I give a slight lean to the Kings +2.5 given their success in this matchup and strong ATS numbers as a road underdog. Sacramento’s elite offense is a tough cover, especially if they get hot from deep. However, the Lakers’ motivation level should be high as they try to avoid the play-in tournament.

For the total, I lean towards the under 239.5. While these teams have gone over in their last three meetings, the number seems a tad high. The Lakers’ slow pace and improved defense of late could drag this into more of a halfcourt game. Sacramento also tends to score a bit less on the road compared to their blistering numbers at home.

SAC-LA Picks:

  • Kings +2.5 (-115)
  • Under 239.5 Points (-110)
