The NFL Draft can prove to be the biggest, and often costliest guessing game in the sport.

For every touchdown that a team connects for with their first-round pick, there are just as many incomplete passes. And every so often, there’s an outfight fumble.

Drafting prospects will never be an exact science. That’s why there’s always going to be money to made in terms of wagering on which players will rise up on draft day, and which ones will take a mighty fall.

Props on when the best prospects will be taken in this year’s draft have been released.

Will they jump over that digit, or slide below it? That’s your call.

The NFL Draft is slated for April 23-25th.

Tua Is a Wild Card

When Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending dislocated hip in a November win over Mississippi State, it threw his draft status into turmoil. Tagovailoa was a serious Heisman Trophy threat prior to the injury.

Some NFL pundits even felt he’d had a legitimate shot at going first overall in the 2020 draft. After the injury, there was speculation that he might even opt to stay with the Crimson Tide for his final season of eligibility.

As draft day approaches, Tagovailoa remains one of the biggest wild cards on the board. His draft status hasn’t been helped by the onset of the coronavirus, either.

Coming off hip surgery, teams wanted the chance to work out Tagovailoa. That isn’t going to happen now amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Will clubs still be willing to risk a high pick on a potentially uncertain commodity?

Tua is all over the board in mock drafts. NFL.com has him going #2, while both the NFL Network and USA Today put him at #3. CBS drops him all the way to fifth overall.

The Miami Dolphins select fifth, and there’s been speculation that they like Tagovailoa. The Los Angeles Chargers select next at #6, and very much need a QB following the departure of Philip Rivers.

Tagovailoa is left-handed. Interestingly, the first week of NFL free agency saw the Chargers adding a new right guard  (Trai Turner) via trade and signed a new right tackle (Bryan Bulaga).

Pick: Over 3.5 (-130)

Cornering the Okudah Market

Ohio State’s Jeff Okudah is viewed as the best shutdown cornerback in this draft. He’s an ideal fit for the Detroit Lions.

Last week, the Lions traded Pro Bowl CB Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles. Detroit will make the #3 selection in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Or will they? There’s speculation that the Lions will trade down to gain additional draft picks. It could also be with the knowledge that they can still get Okudah later in the first round.

A cross-section of four NFL mock drafts was showing just one where Okudah comes off the board earlier than #5. Books are establishing his total at 4.5.

Pick: Over 4.5 (-110)

Jeudy, Lamb Intertwined

It’s a wide receiver-rich draft. Among this deep crop, Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy and Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb are rated to be the cream.

Both books set the total on Lamb at 12.5. Jeudy can be bet on at either 11.5 or 12.5.

Only one of four leading NFL mock draft sees Lamb going above #12. That’s USA Today, which slots the Sooners wideout in at 13th overall.

Jeudy’s status is all over the map. The NFL Network and USA Today see him gone at #12. However, NFL.com pegs the Crimson Tide receiver at #15. CBS classifies him as 21st overall.

That makes him worth a value play on the over.

Pick: Jerry Jeudy over 12.5 (+120)
