There’s going to be a new Super Bowl champion crowned this season.

That’s after a wild Divisional Round playoff weekend, which saw both top seeds get bounced, and the defending champion-Tampa Bay Buccaneers ousted by the Rams, in a game that can only be described as pure madness.

That themed continued through the nightcap Sunday, in a battle of arguably the best two teams left standing.

The Kansas City Chiefs needed OT to outlast the Buffalo Bills in an instant classic,  earning their fourth straight conference final appearance, and leaving them alone at the top of the 2022 Super Bowl odds.

On the other side of the bracket, the Rams are the NFC favorite, hosting the 49ers in the NFC Title game.

Let’s look at the updated odds at the final four teams left standing.

2022 Super Bowl Odds

Team Odds
Kansas City Chiefs +135
Los Angeles Rams +195
San Francisco 49ers +450
Cincinnati Bengals +700

Odds as of Jan 23 from FanDuel.

Chiefs Outlast Bills

In a game that needed to be seen to be believed, the Kansas City Chiefs survived an epic clash to stun the Bills 42-36 in OT to move on to the AFC title game, where they will host the Bengals.

Leading 26-21 at the two-minute warning, Kansas City rallied from 29-26 and 36-33 deficits to force OT and eventually win the game.

Patrick Mahomes led a drive with 13 seconds left to get the Chiefs into field goal range, where Harrison Butker nailed a 49-yarder to force the extra frame.

KC won the toss and scored on the opening drive of OT. Mahomes finished 33-for-44 for 378 yards and three TD’s including the game-winner to Travis Kelce from eight yards out to ice it.

After an uneven season, Kansas City now sits as the betting favorite to win Super Bowl 56, climbing from +400 odds to +135. With their devastating offense seemingly restored, and a defense that might be just good enough, they’re going to be a final-four force.

Rams Defeat Buccaneers

Has Tom Brady ever been blown out in a playoff game? Sunday was another example of Brady’s brilliance and football-god fortune, rallying Tampa from a 27-3 deficit to tie it with 45 seconds to play.

LA took the Bucs’ best shot, while also inflicting pain on themselves with four lost fumbles, and still rallied.

Matthew Stafford gathered himself and showed his big-game moxie on the last drive of the game. He connected on a deep shot to Cooper Kupp to set up the game-winning field goal.

Kupp, who’s shot to third in the 2022 NFL MVP odds, had nine grabs for 183 yards and a touchdown.

LA’s defense made life miserable for Brady most of the afternoon before the late heroics. 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate Aaron Donald led the charge in collapsing the pocket on the regular. The Rams recorded eight QB hits, three sacks and an interception.

They’ll get a third crack at the San Francisco 49ers next week, who’ve beat them twice this season. After starting the week at +700 odds, the Rams’ odds have shrunk to +195.

LA has the opportunity to play at home for the next two games: the NFC title game and the Super Bowl, which happens to be played at SoFi Stadium this season.

49ers Stun Packers

Of all the final four teams, the 49ers probably have the greatest fluctuation of QB play. Fortunately, they’ve got a big-play defense to back them up. That was enough to walk into Lambeau to bounce the Packers 13-10 and advance to their second Super Bowl in three years.

The 49ers held Aaron Rodgers to 225 yards passing, the Packers to 67 yards rushing, while sacking the likely back-to-back MVP four times.

San Francisco’s special teams blocked a field goal and had an incredible punt block returned for a score late in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 10. After forcing a Packers’ punt, Jimmy Garoppolo moved the Niners to field goal range, for Robbie Gould to end it with no time left.

Jimmy G threw for only 131 yards and a bad red zone interception, while getting sacked four times.

San Fran shortens from +1000 to +400 odds, but Garoppolo’s decision-making is always a red flag when laying down a bet.

Bengals Upset Titans

Of all the QB’s heading into the Divisional playoff, Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow is the only one in the up-and-coming star category. The Bengals’ pivot is showing that he’s already there.

Burrow put together another stellar effort not usual for second-year players, as the Bengals hung on to beat the top-seeded Titans 19-16 on an Evan McPherson field goal as time expired. He threw for 348 yards and an interception.

He got the ball back off Ryan Tannehill’s third interception of the game with 20 second left, and quickly moved into range with a strike to Ja’Marr Chase. Chase, the favorite for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, has had his own coming out postseason party.

While he hasn’t scored a major, he has 14 catches for 225 yards, piling up 100+ receiving efforts in back-to-back games.

They’ll be massive underdogs as they travel to Arrowead in the AFC title game, but their odds are still plenty valuable at this point at +700, down from +1300 to start the week.
