Welcome to Week 1 of the NFL season! A MASSIVE divisional clash kicks off the year as the Los Angeles Rams host the San Francisco 49ers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kickoff is on September 10th at 8:35 PM ET.
Before these squads take the bump, checking the injury report is my most critical step. I always want to hit a dinger with my first bets on the NFL betting apps.
This matchup features a HEAVY list of ailments right out of the gate. We are looking at a staggering 18 players landing on the report—11 for the 49ers and seven for the Rams.
These aren’t just depth pieces, either. The status of game-wrecking superstars can SWING the NFL odds in a heartbeat.
I am closely monitoring the participation of crucial difference-makers in practice. Keep an eye on Rams defensive end Aaron Donald (rest) and cornerback Jaylen Watson (toe), plus 49ers star tight end George Kittle (Achilles).
Read on for a detailed look at who is suiting up, who is missing practice, and how these roster concerns could impact your betting strategy!
49ers Injury Report: Achilles Issues Linger For Key Stars
The 49ers enter Week 1 as 3.5-point underdogs, and a lengthy injury report is UNDOUBTEDLY contributing to those odds. Eleven players are currently dealing with physical ailments, featuring core pieces on both sides of the football.
Because official game-day designations haven’t been finalized, I have estimated their statuses based on practice participation below, sorted from worst to best outlook.
The 49ers are managing MAJOR injury concerns, most notably involving foundational superstars George Kittle and Nick Bosa.
Kittle is currently nursing an Achilles injury that has kept him limited in practice. His health is paramount to maintaining red zone efficiency and factors heavily into the 48-game total (Over 48 (-113) – Under 48 (-107) at Caesars Sportsbook).
Prop 1: George Kittle receiving yards
I searched the boards for the best available lines, and BetMGM lists Kittle’s receiving yards at a modest 35.5 (Over -120 / Under -111). If Kittle suffers any setbacks, it could severely hamstring the 49ers’ offensive rhythm.
Use our DraftKings promo to bet on his under if he remains limited.
Prop 2: Will Nick Bosa get a sack?
On the defensive side, dominant pass rusher Nick Bosa is managing a knee issue. Finding the best available odds, the consensus has his sack total at 0.25 (Over +110 / Under -150 at Bet365).
If Bosa’s explosion off the edge is compromised, it provides the Rams with cleaner pocket presence.
Furthermore, the defensive schemes are noticeably bruised. Defensive lineman Alfred Collins missed practice entirely due to a knee injury.
Alongside Bosa, fellow defensive linemen Gracen Halton (ankle) and James Thompson Jr (hamstring) are also limited. If you want to back the Rams’ ground-and-pound rushing attack, keep a close eye on these trenches.
A depleted 49ers defensive line could yield a massive advantage in the field position battle.
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw is another defensive standout who remains limited with an Achilles issue of his own.
Prop 3: Kyle Juszczyk receiving yards
Meanwhile, fullback Kyle Juszczyk is pushing through a finger injury. He continues to see limited practice time, and his receiving yards line is currently posted at 6.5 (Over -111 / Under -118 at BetMGM).
Rams Injury Report: Defensive Stars Focus On Week 1 Health
The Rams enter this divisional showdown as 3.5-point home favorites. Their path to covering that spread is bolstered by a relatively short injury list.
Seven players land on the initial report. The bench boss is largely managing the workloads of premium starters rather than dealing with severe preseason casualties.
As with the 49ers, I have estimated statuses based on the latest practice reports, sorted from worst to best.
While the report looks lengthy at first glance, I feel ENCOURAGED by the number of “Full Participation” statuses. The defense looks poised to attack a battered 49ers offensive line.
Game-wrecking defensive end Aaron Donald missed practice, but the veteran is merely taking a rest day to ensure maximum explosiveness.
Similarly, star outside linebacker Myles Garrett is listed with a knee injury but continues to practice in full.
Prop 4: Will Myles Garrett get a sack?
Oddsmakers expect Garrett to make his presence felt immediately. Searching for the best value, Consensus has set his sack total at 0.75 with the Over favored at -160 odds (Under +120 at Bet365).

Prop 5: Will Byron Young record a sack?
Opposite Garrett, fellow outside linebacker Byron Young is also logging full practices despite being on the report for rest.
I am eyeing Young’s sack prop, which sits at 0.25 (Over +115 at Caesars Sportsbook). If the 49ers’ offense struggles on third-down conversions against a fully weaponized pass rush, covering that 3.5-point spread will be a TALL task.
Controlling the turnover differential will be crucial for both squads. Let’s look at the secondary, where one injury could swing the game script.
Cornerback Jaylen Watson is the only Rams player dealing with an actual ailment that is limiting his practice time.
He is managing a toe injury and has recorded a “Limited Participation” status. His availability is critical to defending the air-raid offense elements and keeping the total under the 48-point line.
Checking the NFL public betting splits is vital if Watson sits.
Prop 6: Tyler Highbee receiving yards
On the offensive side, the Rams are incredibly healthy. Tight end Tyler Higbee is fully practicing after a rest designation.
Finding the best number, BetMGM set his receiving yards line at a low 15.5 (Over -111/Under -120 at BetMGM). This makes him an INTRIGUING target, like cashing free tickets at the charity stripe.

Offensive lineman Alaric Jackson is also practicing in full. That paves the way for a clean pocket and a balanced offensive attack.
