5 Shocking NFL Player Trends to Exploit in Your Week 5 Props

It’s already Week 5 in the NFL season and for sharp bettors, this is the exact moment when isolating individual player performance becomes far more lucrative than sweating out sides or totals ATS.
Elite dual-threat backs are crushing their NFL props on a weekly basis. Take Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, who eclipsed 119.5 combined yards in three of his last four games. I always track situational reliability, like Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts avoiding interceptions and improving his team’s turnover differential in seven of eight affairs against top-10 scoring defenses.
My goal is to deliver the strongest, data-backed player trends on the board. These statistical angles are essential before placing your Week 5 wagers.
Braelon Allen Rushing Yards Fade
Braelon Allen has failed to exceed 72.5 rushing yards in 20 straight games (19.4 rushing yards/game average).
Dating back through the 2025 season, Braelon Allen’s struggles to clear these yardage markers have resulted in a flawless 100% fade rate. I found his NFL rushing yards props set exactly at 72.5 (Under -115) over at Caesars Sportsbook.
The New York Jets backfield matchup isn’t exceptionally favorable. The Cleveland Browns yield a moderate 113.3 ground yards per game while limiting opponents to 4.58 yards per carry.
Given his drastically lower actual average of 19.4 yards during this span, pounding the Under is the smartest bet on the board. He’ll get more chances with Breece Hall expected to miss the contest, but Allen had a pedestrian 59 rushing yards last week against the Bears, so I’m confident going under 72.5.
Ollie Gordon’s Ground Struggles
Ollie Gordon has failed to exceed 46.5 rushing yards in 18 of his last 19 games (17.6 rushing yards/game average).
Also extending into last year, Ollie Gordon is hitting the under on this rushing threshold at a massive 94.7% clip. What makes this trend incredibly actionable is the line value. I shopped around and found Gordon’s rushing prop at 52.5 yards (Under -113) at DraftKings.
This number affords bettors a full six yards of extra breathing room over the trend’s baseline. From a game script perspective, the Miami Dolphins enter Week 5 as 3.5-point home underdogs against the Cincinnati Bengals. Gordon did run for 100 yards last week against Minnesota, replacing an injured De’Von Achane.
Trailing teams usually abandon the ground and pound early. Furthermore, the Bengals allow just 99.5 rushing yards per outing, eighth best in the NFL.
Jalen Hurts Against Elite Fronts
Jalen Hurts has exceeded 26.5 rushing yards in eight straight games against top-10 rushing defenses (46.1 rushing yards/game average).
Not only does he boost red zone efficiency, but Jalen Hurts consistently elevates his dual-threat capabilities when facing stout defensive schemes. Over an eight-game sample spanning 2025 and 2026, the Eagles quarterback boasts a 100% hit rate on this rushing mark against elite run defenses.
The Eagles travel to London this week to face a Jacksonville Jaguars unit yielding 74.3 rushing yards per game, second best in the league. Hurts’ rushing yard total is sitting at 25+ (56¢/-127) at Kalshi, and it’s likely to get cheaper in the next 24 hours.
He’s gone under the total in three of four skirmishes on the campaign, but with Tank Bigsby (placed on IR) and Saquon Barkley potentially missing the game, Hurts will be relied upon more to run wild.
Kenneth Gainwell’s Underdog Target Share
Kenneth Gainwell has exceeded 1.5 receptions in eleven of his last twelve games (3.7 receptions/game average).
Since last season, Kenneth Gainwell has cemented himself as a highly reliable safety valve during negative game scripts. He cleared this NFL receptions props mark in 91.7% of his appearances.
The Buccaneers head into AT&T Stadium as 8.5-point underdogs to the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys play fast, scoring on 48.7% of their drives. This heavily implies Tampa Bay will lose the field position battle and fall behind, forcing an air raid offense.
You can grab Gainwell to record Over 1.5 receptions at 60¢ (-150 odds) at Kalshi.
Christian Watson’s Receiving Floor
Christian Watson has failed to exceed 4.5 receptions in 16 of his last 20 games (3.4 receptions/game average).
Over a massive 20-game sample extending through 2025, Christian Watson has missed this 4.5 reception mark 80% of the time. The Green Bay Packers face a grueling divisional matchup in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears.
This duel strongly points toward a continuation of this trend. The Bears’ secondary dominates, surrendering just 179.8 passing yards per game (third best) and stifling third down conversions to a minuscule 23.7% rate.
With harsh winds blowing off Lake Michigan, passing volume should drop. With Watson’s reception total set at 4.5, I am betting the Under at -133 via BetMGM. The combination of his volume inconsistency and Chicago’s lockdown pass defense makes this a premier play.
