A highly respected NFL veteran, Pierce began his nine-year career with the Washington Redskins in 2001 as an undrafted free agent from the University of Arizona. He became an integral part of the team’s defense and broke out in 2004 when he racked up 112 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one sack. Pierce joined the New York Giants the following year and quickly became the heart and soul of the team’s stifling D. He compiled a career-high 137 tackles during his stellar Pro Bowl season in 2006, and led the G-Men to their third Super Bowl championship in 2008 with one memorable bone crunching play after another. Pierce has made a seamless transition into broadcasting since retiring from the game in 2009, and has become a regular guest on ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption and Mike & Mike.
In addition to his football and television endeavors, Pierce is also well known for his humanitarian efforts. The father of six has been involved in the Read Across America program, and was named the United Way Man of the Year in 2007 in recognition of his commitment to philanthropy and community impact.
