  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 7-point road favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Week 6 edition of NFL TNF on October 14
  • TNF Betting Record: 0-0 ML; 1-2 ATS; 1-1 O/U; -1.09 units
  • Tampa Bay is just 3-9 all-time on TNF, while Philadelphia is 6-3

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enjoy their trips to Philadelphia, but they aren’t fond of working on Thursday night. In Philadelphia, the Eagles don’t mind the Thursday shift but can’t say the same about playing host to the Bucs.

As the reigning Super Bowl champion Buccaneers travel to the City of Brotherly Love, they do so with the knowledge that they’ve won three of their four visits there since 2003. While they like the place, the day is another matter. Tampa Bay is a dismal 3-9 on TNF. The Eagles win twice as often as they lose on TNF, going 6-3.

The Buccaneers are expected to defy those NFL odds, though. Tampa Bay is being established as the solid 7-point road favorites for the Week 6 edition of TNF. However, while the Bucs are a solid 4-1 straight up this season, they’re just 2-3 against the spread.

Buccaneers vs Eagles Line Movement

Neither of these teams are proving to be a bettor’s friend this season when it comes to the point spread. Philly is are 2-3 ATS. Interestingly, both have in common covering against the Atlanta Falcons.

There’s been slight movement in the NFL betting trends on this game during the week. Tampa Bay’s opening spread was -6.5. With 83% of the bets placed against the spread on the Buccaneers, it’s moved to Tampa Bay -7.

The moneyline moved from Tampa Bay -310 down to Bucs -290 and from Eagles +250 to Philadelphia +235 in the NFL odds. The moneyline splits show 87% of the bets are on the Eagles.

There was also a slight downturn in the total from 53.5 to 52.5 points. The numbers show 64% of the public bets are on the Under.

Brady Betting Trends on TNF

When you’re regularly slaying Father Time, playing on a short week is a piece of cake. Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady is 13-3 on TNF, a .813 winning percentage.

With the Buccaneers, however, he’s 1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS on Thursdays.

In last Sunday’s 45-17 win at Miami, Brady dissected the Dolphins for five touchdown passes and 451 yards through the air. It’s the first time in his career that the 44-year-old passed for five TDs and over 400 yards in the game.

Brady is on pace for 51 TD passes. That would be a career-high.

Eagles’ Inconsistent Offense

Last week’s 21-18 victory over the Carolina Panthers provided a display of the quirks of the Philly offense all in one game. In the first half, the Eagles couldn’t move the ball. They conceded a safety.

In the second half, Philadelphia began with an interception and a fumble. Then the Eagles scored 15 unanswered points to win the game.

One player who seems to be finding a groove for the Eagles is wide receiver DeVonta Smith. The 2020 Heisman Trophy winner has caught 14 of his 25 passes in the past two games.

Injury Report

Brady is among four Tampa Bay offensive starters who are listing as questionable for this game. He has a thumb issue. Tight end Rob Gronkowski (ribs), wide receiver Chris Godwin (knee), and center Ryan Jensen (hip) are also questionable.

Brady said while his thumb is sore, he’s played through much worse injuries during his career. Indications are Gronkowski is also close to returning.

On defense, the Buccaneers are showing weakside linebacker Jean-Pierre Paul (finger) and strong safety Antoine Winfield Jr (concussion) as questionable. Right inside linebacker Lavonte David (knee) is doubtful.

Tight end Dallas Goedert (NFL reserve/COVID-19) is out for the Eagles. Right tackle Lane Johnson (personal) and right defensive end Derek Barnett (ankle) are questionable.

Buccaneers vs Eagles Best Bet

Brady is 4-1 all-time against the Eagles – 5-2 including playoffs. But he’s just 1-2 ATS with Tampa Bay as a road favorite of seven or more points.

Philly is 0-2 ATS as a home underdog this season.

Pick: Philadelphia Eagles +7 (-118), 1 unit
